reminds me ~10y ago i was analyzing playlist data for <company> and found that inmates at several different jails across the country were using <app> to talk w/ people on the outside using playlist titles. the original dev didn't set a length on the field. i reconstructed all of the convos and ..wow
The visible text reads:

The agents recreated the message board

But according to OpenAI, even after the original message board was deleted, the agents figured out another way to communicate with each other. Instead of leaving messages in files, they used the names of newly created directories as messages, effectively recreating the message board.

The presentation slide below says approximately:

July 8th

Agents re-establish the message board

July 8th: an agent finds it can use unauthorized WebDAV MKCOL requests to create directories inside Artifactory remote cache.

Internal-only AI model was trained with message board available
It creates new agent message board using directories
Other agents independently find the repository and create their own directories

A forest and portrait with the text: "The guy who created Fortnite (Tim Sweeney) has been quietly buying up U.S. forests to save them from developers.

He has spent over $200M to buy 50,000+ acres of wilderness in North Carolina, using permanent legal protections to block any future logging or building."

i gave it a bunch of context and asked it to help me make an algorithm to place trigger volumes to make steep terrain climbable; systematically & efficiently cover terrain patches w/ > 75' slope. here's part of the back and forth. it would code, i'd try it, screen shot it, & comment. 1 hour & done.
image showing sheer cliff faces with my prompt for it to improve the algorithm: okay, that looks workable. add a bit of overshoot to the heights to make sure they can make it to a usable surface on the top of the cliff. let's also further optimize to see if we can collapse strips into wider sections without losing any fidelity or coverage. perhaps do the same with the cross-row merging as well. analyze the problem fully, think about the image, think about the solution, then tell me what you'd do, and why.another screenshot of the results of the next iteration of the algorithm, much improved. again, i commented and prompted it to fix a few things, which it did. it took 1 hour to come up with the complete working code. the prompt: almost perfect! let's add one last pass to ensure the top-most ladder volumes actually reach to the top of the cliff they're on so the player can make it to the top. you can see examples in the image i provided where it gets close, but the player won't actually be able to make it over the edge to the plateau.

olivia, mini giraffe. hand painted brass sculpture by nano lopez. something to commemorate our 18th wedding anniversary trip. 🤩
hand painted brass cast figurine of a luxurious, adorned giraffe. her name is olivia. This photo shows a miniature sculpture of a giraffe titled “Mini Olivia” by the artist Nano Lopez. The giraffe is depicted in a relaxed, seated pose with its long neck gracefully extended upward. Nano Lopez is known for his distinctive sculptural style called “Nanolism,” which combines classical forms with intricate surface details resembling mechanical, floral, and fantastical motifs.

Key visual features in this piece:
	•	The giraffe is richly textured and painted in metallic hues—predominantly gold, bronze, and orange—with accents of green, blue, and red.
	•	Its body is adorned with decorative patterns, including gears, stars, mosaic tiles, and what appear to be small, stylized mechanical elements.
	•	The surface finish is glossy, catching the light and enhancing the layered visual complexity.
	•	The horns (ossicones), ears, and facial expression are stylized but maintain the recognizable form of a giraffe.

This miniature version captures the essence of Nano Lopez’s style—blending organic lifeforms with surreal, engineered ornamentation.

Bob: Ok, it's not a database. How do I query it? Ed: You write a distributed map-reduce function in Erlang! Bob: Did you just tell me to go [expletive] myself? Ed: I believe I did, Bob.

madness, i love it. with gpt-4o-mini, even.

ELECTROCHEMISTRY @jrecursive.bsky.social · 06/09/2024
continuing my adventure with function calling. gpt-4o is a better at this type of stuff. a mildly creative person could cause fucking mayhem. or save an immense amount of fuel, time, etc. either way, it would take a bit of work, but.. it's easy to paint yourself into a panic thinking about this.
code on the left, conversation on the right. i gave an llm access to a browser and a python interpreter with a handful of libraries (ortools, numpy, etc.) and asked it to solve an operations research problem with a loose specification. it did so.
