Well now that is quality gear! I still got my 7”. I wonder if a revisit of Kenny Everett’s “If You Don’t Want My Peaches” B side track is something the world needs.

The timeline is however corrupted by the use of “KLF” to reference “Kerry-Lynn Findlay”.

Tonight in the Explorers Room, live on @wfmu.bsky.social & @gtdradio.bsky.social: exotic jazz breezes, psychedelic ragas and indo-fusions, and some very heavy business with a dub set drawn from Adrian Sherwood's On-U Sounds. Join me, 7-10:00pm: wfmu.org/playlists/sh...

Other than the problem of broadcast landscape being totally different, no channel has a majority audience: the return of the public information film, in all its gore and horror, is long overdue. “Nanny state!” you cry, but it’s proven we can’t rely on people having common sense. We never could…

It’s taken me a while to get around to listening to all the episodes of Duncan Stuck In The 80s. The weekend one I’ve yet to get to but I’ve very much enjoyed them to now, love a classic jingle re-sing, and I think I’ll revisit his jingle compilations next, all done with flair and humour.

We need an intermediate measure of area between the standard “football fields” and “Wales”. Up at “210 football fields” I cannot usefully visualise.

Hey I’m here for it! I did a 28 min mix of the On-U recordings of the Tabu rhythm some years back, I think it was on a Radio Distraction shows the end of 2022 but I suppose I should upload it to my channel along with others.

This “Rock Me Amadeus” edit is the second of my triumvirate of Big 80s 12” Hits. The first was my take on FGTH’s “Two Tribes” (always note the cowbell), and the third is yet to be started but I kn-kn-kn-kn-kn-know what it is … /ends

And neither was I at first, but then I grew to love it. Meanwhile, “Amadeus” was also a favourite of school friend Bob, he loaned me Falco 3 on cassette, which carried a bonus alt mix of “Vienna Calling”. Maybe I will visit VC for a mix one day. 4/

I loved the UK follow-up “Vienna Calling” too, the mix of classical and rock pop appealed to me then and has always stayed with me since. Later Falco’s comeback after the Falco 3 album was with the single “The Sound Of Music”. I remember Robin Ross on Red Rose Radio not being that keen on it … 3/

This was the first 12” I bought, around March 1986, in Woolworths in Nelson. Still have it. The song’s a bit older, it was really from the previous year and I think this was another push to make it a hit in the UK 2/

Any “house”, “dance” or “hip-hop” record, it was mandatory for a DJ to be at the back there, vaguely moving his hands to no musical effect. It got comical.

This was well worth the listen, Adrian has done many interviews covering the early days, sometimes mentioning the Fall in passing, so this is a great deep-dive into that particular era.
