@sound-transit.bsky.social I don't know if you are aware, or if it's under your jurisdiction, but this pedestrian walk sign at Rainier Beach Station is missing. If the sign at the SE corner of the intersection didn't speak, I wouldn't have known when I could safely cross to the station.

On this #Juneteenth holiday, I share some (unfortunate) family history. My paternal great (x3) grandfather, Beryl "Berry" Jennings Nix, in an 1860 census conducted in Panola County, Texas, is recorded to have owned a slave.
A scan of a slave census document from 1860. A name, Berry Nix, is highlighted, showing that he owned one slave at the time the census was taken.

The length of this line for the ORCA booth at Sam Smith Park shows just how popular Boop is.

I think someone needs to hold up a giant Citation Needed sign, like in this xkcd comic, whenever/wherever Trumps speaks.
Drawing of a politician on a stage looking out a crowd. A person in the crowd is holding up a large sign that says "Citation Needed".

A bit late to the party, but I only received this 2 days ago. Besides riding the Link 1 & 2 lines and the 560 from SeaTac, everything else was with King County Metro; this means in 2026, I need to get those Transit Agencies numbers up. It was also fun trying to remember which routes I rode in 2025.

I, too, have made the trip out to watch @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social's inauguration ceremony.
A crowded room of people.

It's old enough that the service sticker has phone numbers without area codes, as all of those areas (Seattle, Everett, the Eastside, and South King County) were in area code 206 until April 27, 1997. Plus there's the date July 16 1996 that someone wrote on there as well.

Senate Democrats whenever they have a modicum of leverage on something.
Three screenshots from an episode of "The Good Place" aligned vertically, of the actor Paul Scheer talking.

Text on the image says: "He's got a point. The fair thing for us to do just keep on giving up more and more stuff we want, unilaterally, until this demon is finally happy."

Finch, the self-care app, does not #RespectTheHyphen. It's Spider-Man, not Spiderman or Spider Man.

I was privileged to be in the presence of #ThePoleee on my travels through central California today. I asked for its blessing for our safe journey through the Silicon Valley, our crossing of the Golden Gate, and our voyage into the North Coast.
A tall white pole with a thin red band at the top. There is an orchard behind it.

While I do concede that spanning over North 4th Street is a bit much, more housing is needed in Renton—especially in central Renton, and not just SF-only housing stuck in the periphery of the city.

A small wetland area about a half-mile (0.8 km) away from my dad's house caught on fire. This is in the city of West Richland in Washington state.
Orange smoke billows up behind a single fire truck in the middle of Keene Road—a two-lane road—in the City of West Richland, Washington, USA, with trees and grasses behind it on fire.

Related to my previous post, this stretch of Danube shoreline in front of the Hotel Victoria has a travel lane and a parking lane (not pictured in the below image), a tram right-of-way, a narrow promenade for both pedestrians and bicyclists, then a two-lane ramp, and finally a two-lane road.

It would do the city of Budapest wonders if they took their riverfront roads (or at least took out a lane) and converted it into a pedestrian-friendly promenade, like those seen along the Seine in Paris. Not pictured, but some parts are barely wide enough for one person to walk.

With this week being the start of the #WALeg Committees Week, I hope that 2024's HB 2252 (see image) returns in the 2025 legislative session. It's ridiculous that neighborhood cafés were prohibited in the first place.
Original text of House Bill 2252 from the 2024 Washington State legislative session. The text of the bill reads:

AN ACT Relating to allowing small business establishments in residential zones; and adding a new section to chapter 35.21 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 35.21 RCW to read as follows:

(1) A city or town must allow neighborhood cafés to be permitted in any zone allowing residential uses provided that the following conditions are met:
(a) The total gross floor area of the café may not exceed 2,000 square feet;
(b) Outdoor seating is limited to no more than 30 percent of the gross floor area of the café;
(c) There are no drive-through facilities at the café;
(d) The café must offer food if alcoholic drinks are offered; and
(e) Hours of operation are limited to between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

(2) For the purposes of this section, "neighborhood café" means an establishment that serves a limited menu of food items and does not contain more than 2,000 square feet of gross floor area.
