I feel like it's been forever since we've seen SUPER SHADOW, but he was just in Shadow Generations. Time isn't kind. 😭 Canonically, he doesn't even really need a Super form anymore, what with all those Black Arms augmentations (Doom Wing, Doom Surf, etc). Honestly, I think I'd prefer that.

The first look at Super Shadow, who looks like he has Super Sonic's shade of yellow instead of his own?

I'm sure someone will make a bigger deal of this than it's worth.

SEGALAND PARK It was already a Sonic racing game before, but NOW it's a Sonic racing game. This has been a staple ever since Sega Carnival/Sega Illusion (Sonic Riders). You gotta pay respect to the classics, you don't have a choice in the matter.

CITY ESCAPE X GODZILLA I couldn't help but laugh out loud. There's always a bigger fish in the sea. I think I also hear a new version of Escape from the City. Looking forward to it. Showing love to Mothra and King Ghidorah as well is much appreciated.

AIGIS? This was probably one of the biggest surprises. A second Persona character? And it's not even Minato. Or anyone from P4. Unsurprisingly, her vehicle's design is based off of her Persona, Palladion (am I spelling that correctly?)

BAYONETTA Not my cup of tea personally, but if Sega's rifling through their IPs like this, you can't go wrong with Bayonetta, who has several SEGA-related eccentricities to her name as is (After Burner Kick, "Juunen hayain da yo!", etc.) Her Butterfly Extreme Gear looks pretty sick, admittedly.

So let's go in order, how do we feel about the new CrossWorlds stuff? DUEL MODE Never against extra modes in racing games. I felt the same way about Ring Rush in CTRNF. That you can see your opponent's gadgets and items may make it a fun face-off event card, maybe even a mystery tournament entry.

Only two portals open up, and out pop Shadow and Sonic respectively as they line up at the start.

The current UI of Duel Mode.

Both characters' gadget plates and inventories are on screen.
There is also a gauge underneath each player's portrait that fills depending on how they race, and they can spend it to "Duel Boost" and catch up.

I gotta say (with the exception of Evangelion) I‘m much more in tune with what they revealed of the Year Two content of Sonic Racing Crossworlds than Year One. Maybe with this it’ll feel less like Nicktoons Racing Again.

This is very clearly a attempt by the PiF to muscle out frosty with a 25k plat event. Frosty is one of the scenes last Major grassroots strongholds so its in line with their plan to wholly own the scene awful awful. Also first time arcsys has worked with the PiF in a major way which is uh very scary
