John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 3hYou're doing better than I am. Every time I go where cranes are supposed to be, they've gone for a day trip. If I go to Lakenheath Fen, they'll have gone to Welney but if I go there, there'll be 20 at Ouse Washes. Yet my wife saw two while walking the dog 300m from home. 110
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 3h@bestforbritain.org @bylinetimes.bsky.social Another fine example of a Reform run council wasting taxpayer's money. A pointless county-wide referendum on housing asylum seekers. 000

John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 4hI just can't get over the words "stylish" and "Wetherspoons" bring in the same sentence. 000
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 5hThis ignores the fact that as you get older you really don't want the hassle and cost of looking after a property that's bigger than you need. And it's going to be many years before anyone sorts out NHS-style social care so that's where any money you make on downsizing is most likely to go. 000

John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 10hThe last thing we need is a rejoin referendum because all that will happen is the rich grifters who've profited out of Brexit will return with their lies to ensure the gullible single issue voters keep us out. 000

John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Oh, that does hinder plants. We had an empty flowerpot in the kitchen of an office I worked in so for a laugh I got a tomato plant for it and stood it in a tall window. We couldn't understand why it grew so spindly until the window cleaner pointed out it was UV glass. We got one tasteless tomato. 000

John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Even the 1996 Jaguar XK had pedestrian impact sensors that triggered a mechanism to raise its sleek bonnet far enough above the engine to stop people hitting it. 010
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Not necessarily. EVs don't have big multicylinder engines so there's probably an awful lot of empty space under that long bonnet. You can make bodywork absorb the impact of a pedestrian but you can't make a hefty ICE engine do that. 110
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Another EV with an ugly nose. Why do most car makers have problems styling noses without radiator grilles? From Teslas looking like the grille fell off to BMW's sticky-back plastic look. VW seem to be the only ones who've cracked it by running an LED light strip between the headlights like a mouth. 120
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 06/10/2026How gullible do you need to be to think Musk would give a toss about people dying of thirst as long as he could have tankers of Evian delivered? 010

John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 05/10/2026That's the sort of thing that could never appear in a supermarket because a someone in marketing would insist buyers only want apples with white insides. 130
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I've always thought it wise to only give money to people in shops who give you the goods and/or have access to the till. 020
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 05/10/2026The list is ridiculously broad. There are plenty of things that would be listed as flavourings and colours but are natural, like vanilla extract and cochineal. Vitamin C is often used to stop sliced fruit discolouring but could be listed as "preservative" or ascorbic acid. 010

John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 04/10/2026They obviously don't make public swimming pools like they used to. Sudbury's pool is closing after only 39 years but I see the East Dulwich pool, S London, where I learned to swim is still going after 134 years. John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 04/10/2026The British disease: bosses who never bother to talk to those who do the job. This applies to everything from production lines to prisons. John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Get the impression that US food safety standards seem to be based on cleaning the shit off produce while European standards are designed to stop the shit getting on it in the first place. John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 03/10/2026You've read an awful lot into that one sentence that wasn't there. Perhaps you should try reading what people have written, not what your prejudices make you think might be intended? 230
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Odd attitude. I've done loads of magazine photo shoots in public places and the usual reaction is people stopping because they don't want to spoil the photo, usually when you aren't taking any, they wouldn't be in it or you actually wanted people walking past. 010
John Henderson @jphendo.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Not unlikely. Firecrest populations are growing and the BTO distribution maps for them show a strong autumn/winter presence in North Kent. 020

How much longer can we rely on that? 020
