Today’s #Mechtober is about the Northwind Highlanders, and all I can think off is the late Demo Team XO Craig Gulledge. A good man in the Loud MacLeod. My ME5 campaign is named for him, and I painted this higlander for him… though it has a pink paw on it’s ankle too Ace needed a bruiser!

Of course with #Mechtober today being about the Lone Wolves, i had to include some of Jackie Darwin’s Whipits. Pulled straight from Hot Spots Hinterlands temporary hires!

3) As for my contributions to them, Jackie was not my creation, But I have already taken her and ran with it, and you can expect more from that "special kind of crazy" woman in Shrapnel soon. Like she always says. "Let's go make trouble!"

2) it was through Bryan's writing of the Wolves that I formed first a collaborative relationship, and then a friendship with the man. Don't believe the haters. Bryan is good people, and a creative powerhouse. both observing him and his advice made my work better

1) #Mechtober is here, and it is a complicated one for me. the Lone Wolves were not on my #Battletech radar until I found out some one made a Ace Darwin successor part of them, and then @swankmotron.com started writing them. but they are a weird and wacky part of BTech, & I love them for it

Day four #Mechtober, the second Star Leauge will always hold a special place in my heart because of Twilight of the Clans being my favorite sub series. The Hunters, Sword and Fire, Shadows of War, and Prince of Havoc telling the tale of task force serpent, beginning to end was amazing

Concept art of #Battletech Atomic coming in late 2027, from a recent Tuesday Newsday. Love the curces, love the forklift clamp hands, and love the Cylon esque cockpits I won’t be doing the Chrome Paintjob… maybe. But i dig the aesthetic.

This makes me think @allelitewrestling.com.web.brid.gy talent Kris Statlander needs to go back to the Alien Gimmick.

Painted up a #Battletech Gothic Phoenix Hawk modeled after @swankmotron.com’s famous Fox Patrol. In the Gothic Universe, the Clans do not exisr, so Katie pilots a Phoenix Hawk… and a nicotine addiction

So this is fun. First it started raining inside the convention hall., and then a tornado warning triggered I’ll attend. These are sheltering in place inside the convention hall where it is not raining indoors., your arbiters are safe more to come

I mentioned a couple days ago a guy made #Battletech faction logos for most groups, including Ace Darwin. Flattered, but those mottos don’t fit Ace as I wrote him. Also he os selling shirts, which I do not abide. Art below

Behind the scenes, the “face” i had was a darker skinned Kenny Omega. My editor, a fan of the pro wrestling references liberally sprinkled thought ace matched Joe Hendry energy. We got our first glimpse of Ace in Shrapnel 20 “Ace Darwin in Paradise”

James “JPArbiter” Bixby @jparbiter.bsky.social · 03/06/2025

Was talking with a friend about my #Battletech work and a consensus came up that Ace Darwin resembles Odhed Ferhr, which makes me think of this picture for a future story

I don't know who this James Bixby cat is, but he got top billing in the next #Battletech Shrapnel. he also strikes me as a handsome, clever, and funny dude.
