“It’s the third round of restructuring since 2019, and....each restructure brings with it not only loss of staff, but also loss of functionality. This is the same template that’s being used across the sector, and it doesn’t work anywhere.” (Catherine Rottenberg, Goldsmith's academic) 2/2

First World War Christmas, number 2: Field Service Postcard greetings. These ‘pro-forma’ cards were given to soldiers to reassure people at home that they were ok. It was forbidden to write any greetings on the cards; these soldiers chose to ignore this in sending on their Christmas greetings.
Field Service Postcards with Christmas greetings added: this was forbidden, as soldiers were expected to cross out the phrases that didn’t apply to them, before signing and dating the card.

First World War Christmas, number 3: ‘For Mother, Xmas 1914’. A simple gift of a patriotic handkerchief and hand sewn pouch in equally patriotic colours. We may never know who crafted this innocent and touching gift, and whether they envisaged there would be three more wartime Christmases to come.
