That might be true if they ever went near water. But until they either build aquatic wetherspoons, or a floating assylum hotel, these people will keep their feet dry and happily let other people drown. And yet they supposedly support our fishing industry. I cherish the RNLI.

I had a salesman call 'just in passing'. He talked for an hour day before despite me saying I have twins to feed. Wanted to know if I had made my mind up. I told him I had just found out I was being made redundant (true). And instead of saying sorry to hear that he implied I was lying. Jog on mate

salesman for another major purchase in my home on strict condition of no unnecessary spiel he launched into hard sell, I said ok, time's up. Him: oh then I need to call my manager. Me: call away, on the other side of my front door. It's a lot of money/ big decision. This is not the way to get it.

She may well sign a DNR but that is *her* decision. Having been well enough to make such a decision and not having done so/ expressed that wish to her relatives, would suggest it's not obviously 'what she would have wanted' It's a bold move to guess & then tell the person I chose no resus for you

There's a newsletter / annual meeting on data and AI in public sector Scotland. They have a lot of roads related initiatives - there was an interesting one on potholes. I suspect this may have come from there.

Also in an AoR situation a variation in hours often comes with at least time-limited protection agaibnst later redundancy at reduced hours. And you should negotiate that time-limit up as high as you can go. Try to get a right to a conversation to increase hours if things change.

The Tregorran storyline is awful to listen to #theArchers Carol maliciously misinterprets everything A says. Having a lifetime of speaking to each other- how are they so stilted? I don't do shorthand bht might the pluses by crosses. In my History of Art notes, I used ✝️ for Jesus/ Crucifixion, BVM, JtB etc. So shorthand plus additional domain relevant symbols

Before jail he was wavering on the brink of a legitimate business. He has always had it in him to be hard working and driven, then suddenly impulsive and angry. So I don't find his new empathy that implausible - but from therapy and employment, not prison / unemployment which brought out victimhood

"Temporarily trapping some people with comedians" is a pretty good summary of Edinburgh in August tbh. (Kudos to @edinburghminute.com.)

Flash flooding affected some Cowgate and Grassmarket venues yesterday. - Rain flooded the Potterrow underpass, temporarily trapping some people with comedians, as this video by Killian Sundermann and Shane Daniel Byrne shows. Water poured off the bridges (video from South Bridge by @Michaelexploring) and down Victoria Street and the West Port (video by @bedrockcoffee_). This video by @edinburgh_strolls shows where all that rain ended up.

I remember being surprised to be told the correct response to How do you do? Is "And, how do you do?" and not, as we said in Inverness: "You're seeing it. Yersel?" - Pronounced see-een it. (I still suspect that is in some way influenced by the Gaelic)
