I’ve been sketching in my iPad recently. I wanted to do a Patrick Nagel esque sketch to help me work with some coloring. My line work is still not great but I’m practicing when I can. If you’re interested, it’s the Adobe Fresco sketch app and I’m using the basic manga art pens and brushes.

While it’s a step in the right direction- it has been a street fight every step of the way. Elected officials are still stonewalling the release of the audits. They’ve used fear tactics - saying the city would be a “soft target” for crime.

The feds had access to the city of Mount Vernon’s Flock cameras. The city admin is adamant about keeping them up and only changing their policy. I do not like it one bit as I’m still being stonewalled about the audit logs. But it did confirm my suspicion that no one was watching the system.

My wasted trip downtown isn't really the point. The point is that public participation depends on trust. When government shares inaccurate information and then doesn't acknowledge or correct it, it sends the message that informing the public is an afterthought.

Imagine my surprise when I walked in and was told the meeting had actually been yesterday. The City's Facebook post announced the meeting for Friday, July 17, but the meeting was actually held on Thursday. Mistakes happen—I don't expect perfection. What I do expect is accountability.
