@firebase.com has a new built in spending limit. That makes it actually possible to recommend building on firebase in 2026.

The thing you have to understand is that code is not good. Code is bad. Code is a maintenance obligation, and you want as little of it as possible to accomplish your goals. Your agents should not be writing code, they should be removing it.

Bummer, InstantDB is being shut down. It was so cool - you could get a real-time database up in minutes. You could stream LLM responses to the DB and just watch that row from a web client. I built a realtime Facebook groups clone in like half a day. Really too bad they couldn't monetize.

@thdxr.com my son's super old laptop's wifi card keeps dropping out, and he looks at me yesterday, and goes, "Maybe we should have opencode look at it?" This kid doesn't know what Microsoft Word is.

PWAs are awesome once you can train your users to install them. I still get about an email every week telling me they can't find my app in the app store though.

Anthropic gives $100 in credit to use Fable, so I try it out with a short session. It immediately burns $10 in tokens. If they think I'm going to pay for Fable (or Claude) using API prices they're insane.

In the not too distant past, only the aristocracy could read and write. Will AI over-reliance make reading and writing niche skills taught only to the children of well resourced families?

Vue release notes are always so casually ridiculous. "Install size reduced by 77%" "2x faster parser" "44% improvement when compiling the script and template" "scheduling performance 450% better"

Correlation / causation aside, it's interesting that I have 2 hand coded projects that people find useful enough to pay money for and about 10 vibe coded projects that people pay me $0 for.

Tinkering with web apps that have the capability to modify and extend themselves. Bundle an AI harness with a fullstack framework like Nuxt on a cloud VM. I can prompt the app and it will write custom scripts, create new data visualizations on new pages, and rebuild and redeploy itself.

Coding on the road this week in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Guangzhou. Almost all maintenance. What's it called when you vibe code with the only goal of increasing robustness and maintainability?

I want this! But, how do I pay? When I see "managed" and it's free, it's hard to not anticipate a rugpull. Hard to commit to building atop a platform without a clear pricing structure.

I got an early invite to ui.sh by the team that built @tailwindcss.com Really neat tool already, but it burns tokens in Claude code. If you have a Github copilot subscription, you can install the same MCP server, and an entire design pass in Opus can be done in a single request - really efficient!

It's hard to be on the leading edge of these things. Like, do I spend a day integrating Oxlint stylistic and then Oxfmt comes along with support the next month? Regardless, really grateful for all the amazing work going into all of this.

This was why I passed on pragmaticDnD. I think it's great that they're using the platform, but no way to "trigger" the drag event on mobile without a long hold makes it less usable it certain drag and drop contexts. I ended up using PointerEvent events (maybe didn't exist when portable was built.)

For files in Google Cloud Storage, the limit looks like it's 2GB. How does the model deal with this? Is it executing code to extract portions into context? Surely it's not dumping the whole thing into the context window?

What exactly are people building with all these agent orchestrators? More agent orchestrators? Are there really so many features you are building simultaneously that you need 3/5/10 agents working at the same time?
