Non artists (and novice artists) easily confuse technically tight rendering detail as 'good art'. I know this because I'm a mediocre artist who discovered long ago that I can fool people into thinking I'm good by slathering tightly rendered details over wonky proportions, foreshortening, etc.

As I was deconstructing I did have a fear that my kids would not have the same 'grounding' I did. Then I remembered that it's not like I'm perfect or that the evangelical presuppositions backed into so much of my structure of thought don't have down sides.
