Just cancelled my #netflix Subscriber since 2013! Time was it would have been unthinkable getting rid of it, but now, it just doesn’t feel like a place for good stuff anymore. I’ll be fine with Apple, and Disney, AND Crunchyroll, AND Prime…

My first thought upon getting my Switch on release was “yeah, it looks more modern than the Wii U, but it’s nowhere near as comfortable!” I miss the gamepad.

Eagerly awaiting the day I get one of those legit messages, rather than a sales pitch in disguise!

I think the only thing in the game I unreservedly liked was the music. So much of it was fantastic. Everything else was always only okay at best.

Me chuckling at the legitimately amusing line I wrote months ago and forgot about.

Heck yes. I need this right away.

King Charles on his state visit has the opportunity to do the funniest thing.

To this day, my favourite DQ enemy remains the humble Woebergine. Elite level pun naming.

Aaaand they continue to be beyond parody.

I’d go so far as to call that MAN dinner.

I honestly had an amazing time with it. It makes me sad that more people didn’t appreciate it.

No matter my other issues with these games, I will always love the music. Some of the best tunes in the entire series.

Are people not talking much about #maulshadowlord ? They should be, it’s amazing.

I was supposed to be writing a novella, dammit.

Why did I wait this long to play Dragon Quest Builders? This game rocks.

Sometimes I feel like if I could just get a good night’s sleep, I’d be able to write 10,000 words the next day. I never end up getting a good night’s sleep.

I’ve been on the same journey of realisation myself. When I think back to how simple getting published seemed when I started 20 years ago, it makes me sad. Back then, I’d get handwritten feedback from agents. Nowadays, a form email if I’m lucky. Industry changed too, and for the worse I guess.

I actually had one of these when I was a kid and I cannot believe I’m seeing one again all these years later.

I like the idea that Dave is *targeting* the UK with rain etc. The weather system has got it out for us.

If you enjoy big budget sci-fi on the small screen, then go for it. From that perspective, it’s great! I’ve found it’s best not to think too much about the books it’s supposed to be adapted from, because it doesn’t do a great job when it comes to the major themes. But overall? I like it!

The depressing thing is, you’re probably not that far off the reality of it all.

Honestly, I’m just looking forward to so many of us going on a FRLG adventure all at the same time. It’s gonna be a fun few weeks for the community!

Getting so sick of this on Switch 2 😑

080

Joseph O. Doran @josephodoran.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

It’s frustrating that my excitement for any new third party game on Switch 2 is almost always soured by the fact that it’s only a key card release. I just want to own actual copies of the games I buy.

Love Through a Prism / Love Rondo is my Downton Abbey and I’m not afraid to admit it.

Lorelei the Slayer, first book in my new trilogy (sequel in a few months). A young woman in an oppressive religious society must decide how to fight back against her captors, with the supernatural threat of a terrible monster hanging over her. It gets bloody, fast. Swords & rage. amzn.eu/d/aghH8OU

I’ve got about fifty ideas written down in my notes app. Actual stories that I’ve written…five. There’s a whole gulf between thinking something up and shaping it into a narrative!

I bought a secondhand Analogue Pocket, which plays gameboy and gba games; and I love it. The screen makes my old favourites look amazing.

I’m replaying Red on the original hardware and honestly, being able to look up stuff on the site, like how I used to check my strategy guide back in the day, has been so helpful.

I think the ending of book three still haunts me, but in a sorta good way.

I read this years ago and I still think about it probably every couple of weeks.
