Code editor + extensions = IDE ? That is missing the "Integrated" part. VS Code is great for a lot of things, but you aren't going to do much with it out of the box besides frontend web dev.

Visual Studio is an IDE, VS Code is (or is supposed to be by default) a lightweight code editor. You can use it in a way that is IDE-like, but that's a different class of product.
