i'm not an expert in this arena (pitching books). but! i was once a radio DJ where everything between songs was a 10-20 second "pitch" (break). so i made a guide. your mileage may vary. take it or leave it. i'm not your boss.

A BOOK PITCH IS:
- the most exciting way to say the inciting incident in as few words as possible, then
- something else about the book you think is REALLY COOL (again make it quick), then
- snappy statement to tie statement 1 & 2
together AND
- make your comps make sense

me, who says things like "ding dang" and "a wild hair up your ass" is apparently not midwestern at all but instead sounds like someone from san francisco this test is wrong

the dialect standard for me, the guy who's lived in Ohio way too long, apparently sounds like he's from California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and BARELY from Ohio at all.

it's my cat's Gotcha Day today. i call it her birthday. this absolute queen came in and knew she'd be fine. her first day vs last night:
