Joppe Widstam @joppewidstam.bsky.social · 17/06/2025I will try it out later. What's your impression, is there a noticable increase in the usefulness of ChatGPT? 000
Joppe Widstam @joppewidstam.bsky.social · 08/06/2025You are right. To be clear to anyone venturing this deep into the thread, two separate points: (i) ChatGPT is useful for learning (for example by using my system prompt), and (ii) Math Academy (which is very different from ChatGPT) is excellent for learning. (None teaches calculus in two weeks) 000

Joppe Widstam @joppewidstam.bsky.social · 07/06/2025Actual tutoring is almost surely better quality than ChatGPT but is much more expensive and not as "on demand". I think Math Academy is on par or better than human 1-on-1 tutoring (in a sense they try to emulate it using cognitive science and data science for how to best serve you the next step). 220
Joppe Widstam @joppewidstam.bsky.social · 07/06/2025That is a very reasonable worry. For calculus in particular, I recommend mathacademy.com (it is AI for education, but not for generation like LLMs.)mathacademy.comMath Academy 000

Joppe Widstam @joppewidstam.bsky.social · 12/05/2025I agree that truly general intelligence requires what you describe, and that dogs have more of it than current AI. You have me convinced that truly general intelligence is not around the corner, but that within five years, we still might plausibly have at least strategically very capable AI. 110
Joppe Widstam @joppewidstam.bsky.social · 12/05/2025I think you are onto something. Even as other capabilities increase, we might not see corresponding increases in emotional capacity. Humans' emotional capacity has been shaped by biological and cultural evolution. This is not so easily replicated in training machine learning models. 110
