The Saja Boys are all here! I love the look of the character designs in this movie and Mattel has done such an amazing job translating them into toy form. Not to mention all the different face plates and accessories they worked in! #sajaboys #kpopdemonhunters

My October To Be Read Pile! As a writer of horror novels (amongst other things) I regularly have a LOT of horror and horror-adjacent stuff I want to get to. October is the perfect time to really dive into horror, of course, between movies, TV and books! Swipe to see my picks. #Booksky #octobertbr

Merritt Wever's Andie manages to tread this space between being slimy, relatable, and also kind of likable, perhaps because Hansen is her character's foil in this. Gisondo's Decoy Dan, basically groomed by Hansen/Andie to be on the show, is tragic as a guy horrifically traumatized for a SAG card.

Riveting and stylish, Pattinson continues to impress. He's magnetic. Part Dracula and part sideshow ringmaster. The tone of the film is fascinating, vibrating between satire, drama, and even horror. That last bit was maybe one egg too many in the pudding. Still, really enjoyed it. #FilmSky

I was pretty unimpressed by this guy on the shelf at first. Though I love an Alcala-inspired head! I finally grabbed him, and I have to say it’s a pretty charming, fun Skeletor.

I vividly remember the first time I saw the episode where Turlough was in his little European swim suit.

One of my favorite things is when a show balances the comedic and horrific well.

Taking a (utterly natural) bite out of fall. I’m not always a huge fan of sugar cookies. I got used to the way my mom made them when I was younger. But the Panera ones aren’t bad. Plenty of salt (yay!) and a frosting that isn’t too sickly sweet.

I have finally seen the most infamous episode of the X-Files: Home. I missed it during the original run (thanks, school/work!) I did not expect it to still pack a punch. It's truly horrific. And fantastic. This being on 90s network TV blows my mind a bit. Like, this is grisly. But A+

Mulder and Scully run up the wooden stairs of a home. This is the most prosaic still I could take to represent the episode because I don't want to give anything away to people who haven't experienced it.

Seconds to Midnight by Fredrik Hornung. I've flipped through this and admired the art, but I'm excited to finally sit down and read this beautifully retro-looking piece of art by Hornung. It's another comics anthology.

Darkest Depths is a horror comic anthology by Monstrous, another Kickstarter back I made. I actually tried to submit a story to this, but got rejected. So I'm excited to see what stories beat me out! :D I have thought about illustrating and releasing my story on my own at some point.

Kolchak Meets Classic Monsters is one of many books by Monstrous Press I've backed on Kickstarter. Sadly, I have not read ANY of their Kolchak books I've backed yet! I decided to correct that, starting here.

I have been wanting to re-read Frankenstein since Guillermo del Toro's glorious adaptation. But it was around that time that my reading became very scattered. I'm excited to dive back into this classic.

Deadfall Hotel by Steve Rasnic Tem. This is the first book I started reading. It definitely has a fun, creepy vibe ala Gorey. Fellow writers, if you ever wondered if social media sells people on books, I saw this on Bsky and instantly ordered it from one post, based on the cover, blurb, and title.

Steam by J. B. Law - a gay horror novel! And that evocative cover! How could I resist? I saw Phrique reading this on socials, and grabbed a copy right away. As a writer of horror that has a strong gay component myself, I'm really intrigued to see what this novel from the 90s is like.

Breverton's Phantasmagoria was a gift from my friend Cheeno when he was visiting Scotland. A horror-adjacent book on the list, it covers monsters, myths, and more! I plan to read a little bit from this throughout the month since it's made up of a lot of different entries.

For Review: Glasgow Boys by Margaret McDonald tells the tale of two young men tackling adulthood with a lot of baggage, both having grown up together, for a time, at the same care home. They tackle life differently, and are haunted by how they parted. #bookreview ##fictionreview #booklover

Sometimes it’s nice to put your focus back into your small little world. Sometimes it’s necessary. For me, that can be in the form of writing. Or reading a book. Or a great conversation with a friend.

I’m so ready for October! I take a lot of joy in small things. The crisp air coming through the windows. Warm coffee on a cool morning in a favorite cup. Sometimes the world and its problems seem impossibly big. I don’t think our brains are actually made to cope with it all.
