I really enjoyed the first episode of Carrie. I always worry when a singular book is turned into as series. But, I loved everything Flanagan did in this first episode as an update. Howell and Sloyan are great as the mother and daughter White. Also, yay for seeing Tahmoh Penikett! Well, briefly.

I’ve been opting to watch X-Files instead of getting my usual horror movie watching in, but decided tonight to get to it by diving back into a Severin Danza Macabre box set. These have been a lot of fun to explore and be exposed to a wider spectrum of horror. #FilmSky

Forgotten Island was an incredibly fun, beautifully animated film. I really loved the world brought to life here, and it was fun to learn more about Filipino mythology. Deserved more of an audience than it got, for sure. I can see families having a great time with this.

The lead characters as they look once they are transported to the island, surrounded by a fierce (but cute) army of mushroom people.

Finally getting back to drawing with traditional media. I got my first iPad Pro in 2017 and pretty much stopped drawing via traditional materials. I'm hoping to eventually get to a point I can create my graphic novel short story that I submitted to Darkest Depths, but that wasn't picked up.

Deep Six! Okay, so the OG version with the fluorescent orange helmet was my favorite GI Joe growing up. I hope we get that in retro. That being said, this is SUCH a cool figure. I wish he had alt hands. And that “clear” dome feels kinda cheap. But I’d buy another cheap to use the dead head.* #gijoe

Beast mode! Love the new X-men 97 animated version. Great smooth sculpt to represent the animated look. The only thing I miss are the flat hands the comic version has. That was great for acrobatic handstand poses. But the extras here are fun. #xmen #xmen97 #beastxmen

Well, I had a great time playing Spider-man: Miles Morales. Miles is a great character of course, and I like this take on the Tinkerer. It definitely felt WAY shorter than the first one (I thought I was only 1/2 done!. Also, though I never fast travel, I missed most of the side stories, I think?

Tomb Raider! Recruiting Lara for a GI Joe Classified figure is a fun idea and works well. You can get rid of the GI Joe stuff and have a regular Lara easily enough. I like this one a lot! I’m intrigued to see who else they could recruit. Nathan Drake? Jem? Have Pizzaz join the Dreadnoks? Bond?

Last night was a weepy Mulder episode. I kind of hated it. It's not often I cringe at an episode of X-Files, and I appreciated some of the big swings here. But the past life stuff just had me eye rolling. Not so much as a concept (hey what do I know) but the execution.

Riveting and stylish, Pattinson continues to impress. He's magnetic. Part Dracula and part sideshow ringmaster. The tone of the film is fascinating, vibrating between satire, drama, and even horror. That last bit was maybe one egg too many in the pudding. Still, really enjoyed it. #FilmSky

Taking a (utterly natural) bite out of fall. I’m not always a huge fan of sugar cookies. I got used to the way my mom made them when I was younger. But the Panera ones aren’t bad. Plenty of salt (yay!) and a frosting that isn’t too sickly sweet.

Steam by J. B. Law - a gay horror novel! And that evocative cover! How could I resist? I saw Phrique reading this on socials, and grabbed a copy right away. As a writer of horror that has a strong gay component myself, I'm really intrigued to see what this novel from the 90s is like.

I have finally seen the most infamous episode of the X-Files: Home. I missed it during the original run (thanks, school/work!) I did not expect it to still pack a punch. It's truly horrific. And fantastic. This being on 90s network TV blows my mind a bit. Like, this is grisly. But A+

Finished season 3 of the X-Files with Talitha Cumi. It was a really great season, overall, as the show grows more confident in its tone. In this episode, I found Jeremiah Smith to be so incredibly eerie. All good fun, if kind of surprisingly talky for a season finale.
