Hey, so, uh, anyone know how to pull a family member out of a conspiracy rabbit hole or experience with such a matter?

Hey, so, what do you do if a relative has fallen down a Jewish bigotry rabbit hole where they cite things that you quickly look up or already know to be standard fair arguments that date back centuries or easily parallel bigotry towards other groups?

Some combination of nepotism, willingness to go along with whatever the higher ups say, a complete lack of moral fiber, and some really stupid luck when it comes to financial investments into market bubbles, if I had to guess.

Wasn't 'too big to fail' meant to refer to how a company cannot be allowed to collapse less it ruins the economy. Is the implication supposed to be that other countries will bail us out or is punditry a fundamentally flawed conxept?

Maybe either the War of 1812 and/or the Civil War. But the former was kickstarted by the US and then turned defensive, and the Civil War was the US defending itself from itself. So yes, with the caveat being the US was the one to start the wars in the first place.

It has baffled me for so long that we don't celebrate the elimination of wild smallpox to me. That was is, in my mind, probably the greatest human achievement so far, and it was only possible due to vaccines.

We noticed something grim/funny: there have been so many cases of people spiraling into severe mental health issues after prolonged ChatGPT use that OpenAI is now just copy-pasting the exact same statement every time there's a new report: futurism.com/openai-respo...
Days later, Vox published its own piece exploring the dangers that ChatGPT can pose to people with obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD. Again, OpenAI's response was familiar:

"We know that ChatGPT can feel more responsive and personal than prior technologies, especially for vulnerable individuals, and that means the stakes are higher. We’re working to better understand and reduce ways ChatGPT might unintentionally reinforce or amplify existing, negative behavior."

Then we published another story, this time about how even more people were being involuntarily committed to psychiatric facilities — or even jailed — after becoming obsessed with ChatGPT. Here was the company's response:

"We know that ChatGPT can feel more responsive and personal than prior technologies, especially for vulnerable individuals, and that means the stakes are higher. We're working to better understand and reduce ways ChatGPT might unintentionally reinforce or amplify existing, negative behavior."

And this week, the Wall Street Journal reported about how a 30-year-old man named Jacob Irwin was told by ChatGPT that he could bend time, that he had achieved a breakthrough in faster-than-light travel, and even that he was mentally sound after he raised his fears that he was unwell. In the months that these conversations took place, he would be hospitalized three times and lose his job. Here was OpenAI's response to the newspaper's reporting:

"We know that ChatGPT can feel more responsive and personal than prior technologies, especially for vulnerable individuals, and that means the stakes are higher. We’re working to understand and reduce ways ChatGPT might unintentionally reinforce or amplify existing, negative behavior."

Not necessarily that far off. I was touring apartments recently, and one of the places I checked out was a bit of a more modern or fancy one, and it lacked an oven. Did still have a stovetop at least.

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖
A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.

I presume its because being that high causes one to dehumanize or not to care about others, because how else can you think oneself good, and thus one can start to treat others as playthings or mere nuisances, because they really aren't people now, are they?

Even when I thought like that, my thought was that rewarding that tendency should be done for when someone is actually doing something good, like, I don't know, giving tax breaks to companies that didn't have accidents, paid their workers well. or something. And also make jobs like nursing pay well.

And, at least in the US due to No Child Left Behind, it often can be and easily seen as such. While the subjects like algebra are not inherently meaningless, schools often fail to show what meaning there is in doing so, leading to them hating the education they are given.

Beyond that, if are just looking for the best way to educate, our current system has a major issue, the desire to. The most effective education is one that the student is invested in, which our current system does not do well, instead forcing students to do work that they find meaningless.
