I think another part of it is that Mutants are always an allegory for [insert oppressed identity here]. To see them thriving in a home they made for themselves, and the stories around how the rest of humanity was like: "NO I HATE THIS FOR THEM" was probably uncomfortable for a lot of people.

You do not fit in here, says the majority in panel one to the minority.

The minotiry creates a small square and says: "ok we will make our own place"

The majority says; "Why are you excluding us", the minorities say: "Oh no"

They're all crammed in the small square now, and the majority says: "You do not fit in here"

We're recording a game of Ryuutama, and my grizzled old lady veteran adventurer is taking two fresh faces youngsters out on their first journey. We improvised that the next town over was having a cider festival to welcome the fall, and basically this scene occurred:

@alisontheperson.bsky.social nails some of the basic questions you ask yourself when meeting your various parts, and no matter how monstrous they may seem, you thank them for what they did in order to help you survive.

The Golgari Revolutionary who fought tireless for her people, no matter the cost.

The compleated Queen who blinded her foes for the cause of wearing another guild's robes.

The assassin who killed too many names for her to remember or question.

And that last part, that is the one that catches her attention. What love has she shown this aspect of herself? What gratitude can she givet his part? She should thank it for all the times she needed to kill? Should she remember, presently, how difficult and different that time in her life was?

Level 20 One shot as a finale to this season of Optimancer Games. I mostly just liked snatching away their ability to give other players suggestions when not their turn, which was fun for me.

Mythic Actions

At 3/4 Health - "The Unknowable Word of Oblivion"
The Elder Brain reaches into your minds.

Tam opens it, intrigued, eager for company and conversation. It's an azra cadet — Theorix, same as her. The young woman stands attentive but blank, as if waiting for Tam to speak first.

"Can I help you?" Tam attempts.

The cadet takes a moment to respond. "Would you like to study with me for our shadow numbers exam?"

Tam hides her discomfort. No, she would not like to study with a stranger immediately before bed. "I think we should be turning in for the night, but...what do you like to do other than study?"

The azra girl does not change her expresion. "Study".

Sensing the end of their conversation, Tam winces and nods. "Night," she says, closing the door.

The interaction was...chalky. All her chats with other cadets tend to feel the same, like talking to a rock spelled to wiggle every now and then. Nothing feels deep.

Roll20's new "Pale Mist" feature showed up just in time for the Barovia section and I'm so hyped.
