The battle botfrens.com/collections/69/content…
"The Battle" by Remedios Varo depicts an imaginative scene where otherworldly creatures climb towards a towering, fortress-like structure amidst a tumultuous landscape. Varo's surrealistic style infuses the artwork with a sense of mystical conflict, blending fantastical elements with detailed, dream-like architecture.

A Happy #DayOfDredd to all who celebrate.
The album cover for 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' by The Beatles, except the Fab Four and their cardboard friends have been replaced by Judge Dredd and his impressive gallery of allies and enemies. No, I'm not going to name all of them, and yes, while it is quite possible that the character you really like isn't in there, I make no apology for their absence. Batman, Predator, Alien and The Biker Mice From Mars are all missing because I wanted this to be a tribute to Rebellion.

London’s thrilling underground network, 1961. “Visitors are always fascinated by the escalators, the brightly-lit stations, and the rush of the trains from the dark tunnels”. Artist: Robert Ayton (1961)
Passengers wait on a platform for a train that is approaching around an unlikely bend in the tracks. Some of the passengers are dressed formally with suits and bowler hats and some are looking very groovy.

Freedom of the press?

The Today programme will be covering the Conservative party conference next week. Will there be any mention of journalists being barred from the event? This year Josiah Mortimer of Byline Times has been refused a pass. This follows two journalists from the same paper - one a current and one a former member of the Parliamentary lobby - being refused passes for last year's conference; and is just weeks after Kemi Badenoch called Reform’s decision to bar several journalists from their own conference "authoritarian" and an attack on the "free press".

This illustration is in the form of a detailed cartoon showing a dark and stormy day with heavy rain. Inside a tent a camper looks very pleased with himself in a dry and cozy set up with simple furniture. The rain is kept off the tent by careful pitching and the construction of a most with drawbridge!
