Really important point i hadn't seen yet, which is that AI data center proposals are concentrated in gas reservoir basins, bypassing federal permitting altogether by avoiding the need for interstate pipelines. All of the smoke about transmission costs reforms look different in this light.

Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

One thing not mentioned, table top wargames are interesting here. There is a ton of zine activity, and the investment level tends to be higher than needed to play an indie rpg. The still have the thing from ttrpgs where you can write like half a game and people fill in the stuff on the edges.

root totally "fixes" risk. I mean, it really just strips a bunch of the bullshit of risk (too many countries), and add a layer of good (each player has different rules). I think they likely did the fixing / refinement round first?

"tools:
- steal ideas from another game and try to fix them
- always make the grid smaller
- save up weird ideas until they naturally fit somewhere
- write down all different ideas and then fit them all into a consistent structure
- simplify the design to avoid work you don't want to do
- abandon your original idea, it was just scaffolding"
