Black Cube, a notorious spy firm with links to the Israeli government, has been spying on and secretly recording Slovenian government officials and allies in the months leading up to a crucial election, according to a new report by Mladina, a storied Eastern European magazine.
The center-left coalition is trailing the right wing in the polls ahead of elections scheduled for March 22, but the new revelations upend the campaign and threaten to further complicate increasingly strained relations between Israel and the European Union.
This morning, the Slovenian prime minister held a press conference in relation to an the report that found Black Cube officials had met right-wing opposition leader Janez Janša before secretly recorded videos of government figures began appearing anonymously online.
