Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 28/09/2026We were away for a few days so, to punish us, the cat has turned invisible. 030
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 30/08/2026BTW Apple maps still shows the lake's real name, if it matters to you. 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 28/07/2026This is a pretty good cat toy (Teazys peaky tail. I got it from Walmart). 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Could someone in DC go check on the Reflecting Pool? Because this sequence of photos sense to imply, possibly, that it's cleaned up by now. The last photo shows the nanobubblers working away at it two weeks ago. 000
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 23/06/2026I love this, even more so since it originated in a post by Trump, saying the "amphifa" protester was likely paid. 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 31/05/2026Love this. Two of the lawyers working for Trump when he sued his administration over the IRS leak under his administration were named "Epstein" and "Epshteyn." 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 04/05/2026They really missed a trick at the beginning of Terminator by not having the robots show hearts as they ride over the piles of skulls. 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 17/04/2026I saw the (relatively) new opera "Innocence" at the Met a couple days ago. The tension throughout the opera, expressed in the music and the nonstop action, unrelieved by an intermission, made this a truly great work. 130
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 27/03/2026Yesterday, at Tristan und Isolde, the show opened with the two leads sitting at a dinner table. There's was a large glass hourglass between them. Isolde reached out to it and it shattered in her hand. What an amazing way to start the opera! Lovers doomed by fate! But, they then stopped the show. 100
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 26/03/2026"Tristan and Isolde" at the Met is moving and impressive. I'm glad I got to see it. I've wanted to since I forced my way through "Finnegans Wake." The Met has amazing technical capabilities. For most of the performance the singers were inside these enormous moving cones suspended above the stage. 000
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 25/03/2026I'm at Lincoln Center to see Tristan. I'm struck by how restrained the architecture is. Moses left so much space for people to simply sit and enjoy. He didn't need to dominate the surroundings, unlike Trump. 000
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 15/03/2026Really fascinating paper in Nature. Researchers fine-tuned a ChatGPT model with bad data. This led to all sorts of bizarre, frankly evil, behavior. Below, left, the training; right, the output. www.nature.com/articles/s41... 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 12/03/2026From "Strip Law", Terri Gross and get alter-ego. (Terri Gross is a familiar figure here in Philly and nationally.) 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 01/03/2026My son, now living in Croatia, is appearing (or his likeness is appearing) in this commercial for, I think, vitamin water. 000
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 12/02/2026It's amazing that somebody thought using the image of the obviously least healthy HHS secretary in history would motivate people to eat. 000
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 07/02/2026Saw "Complications in Sue", Philadelphia Opera's new opera. I'm new to opera and this opera is new to the world. What an interesting, beautiful, innovative experience. I'm lucky to live in a city with an opera company willing to push boundaries while having the ability to create something beautiful. 040
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 04/02/2026I can't think of authoritarian leader anywhere who acted inn such a cartoonish manner. Maybe Mussolini? Mao? 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Larry Krasner saying some very good things at a rally here. 110
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 25/01/2026ICE here in Philly has blockaded the sidewalk outside their office. I think this shows the value of NVDA, one goal of which is to expose the underlying nature of the regime. For weeks now religious groups have been holding vigils there. Now, it looks more fascist. 010
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 24/01/2026I'm really liking the Quaker writer and evangelist Hannah Whittall Smith. Writing in 1905: 000
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Philly: do you care about ICE agents using the courthouse as a hunting ground? Do you want Sheriff Bilal to do something about it? Come to the action to deliver petitions urging her to do that. And sign the petition if you haven't already. sign.moveon.org/petitions/en... 020
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 22/01/2026Philly, there will be an ICE out rally Tuesday January 27 at 10 am. City Hall, north apron. 000
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 20/01/2026If you're in Philly: Tomorrow, outside the ICE headquarters at 8th and Cherry, there will be a prayer vigil at noon. This one will be led by Tikkum Olam Chavurah. 032
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 19/01/2026This Wednesday, in Philly, a general organizing meeting versus ICE. Go and learn how you can take action. 1114
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 19/01/2026People are trying to explain Trump's Greenland obsession as part of some grand Western hemisphere strategy. Nope. It's like windmills, the ravings of a sick old man. 140
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 19/01/2026Fyi, if you're here in Philly and want to get involved, people stand outside the ICE office in the early morning freezing cold and "greet" them appropriately every Monday. It's good if you're an early riser. 050
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 27/11/2025My cat enjoying his new chair (actually for our granddaughter). 020
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 26/11/2025My niece making clothes for Nicole freaking Kidman is a unexpected surprise. 110
Jon Webb @jonawebb.bsky.social · 15/11/2025In my personal experience, the one thing that makes me feel better about living through these dark times is working with others to interfere with ICE. Much better than No Kings rallies etc. Please consider it. 000
