My #editing process for longform fiction: 1. Read & markup scenes from end to start 2. Markup & small revisions from start to end 3. Go through markups & revise / major rewrites if necessary 4. Grammar & spell check Idk if it’s the best method but it works for me so I thought I’d share! #writing

I write mostly literary inspired weird fiction. The things that interest me most as a writer aren’t high stakes missions, or mysteries to be solved, but how an event that’s seemingly impossible affects the characters internal life “Weird things happen; people deal with it” Is my writing philosophy

For sure! I still have a lot of notes on how I can improve my story, and am slowly working through them, but I don’t hate my story. You can be critical of your work without hating it or yourself as a writer.

It’s funny. I’ve written like 5 books at this point (6 if you count this WIP), & self published 2 of them, but this project feels like my first “real” book. Probably because it aligns so close with my tastes, skill wise I feel competent enough to take on this project, & it’s a very personal story.

I like to edit my stories in reverse when doing my 1st round revisions. I find that it helps me identify dropped plot lines and inconsistencies better. I usually pants my stories in the first half before outlining the second half, so this method helps a lot with fusing those two approaches. #writing

As I’m editing my book I’m honestly happy with how much I like it. I was afraid that I wouldn’t like the first draft but I’m pleasantly surprised. Although this could also be a bad thing since I might still be too close to the story to see the faults. 😅 #writing #editing #writingcommunity

One of the best feeling while editing you own work is reading a scene, or a paragraph, or even a sentence and thinking “wow, I can’t believe I wrote that!” (Positive) #writing #authors #editing

It's been quite a challenge #writing an MC who refuses to introspect, grow & take direct action. I set out on this project with that goal in mind, but it has made writing scenes where she interacts with others challenging. A departure from my usual stories where my MCs like to talk and take action.

Had an idea for my next book after I finish my WIP and my brain immediately thought "you know, this could make a good walking-sim / adventure style game!" and I had to push those thoughts aside. I don't have the time or money right now to learn game design 😄
