At 6 weeks, 19 of 52 participants (36.5%) of the 5% nicotine ecig group were abstinent from cigarettes (validated by CO<6ppm) compared with 6 of 52 (11.5%) in the 0% nicotine ecig group (P = .005). jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

This slide from the excellent Monitoring The Future survey, shows the future of cigarette use in the United States. You see a similar pattern in 18-28 year-olds in other surveys. Daily smoking in 12th graders was 24.6% in 1997. Now it is 0.8% !! monitoringthefuture.org/data/bx-by/d...

I just watched the mini-series, "The Bombing of Pan Am 103" on Netflix. It tells the story of the 1988 Lockerbie disaster, mainly as a drama with great acting, but also with archival footage from the time. It was excellent. I give this mini-series 10/10. www.netflix.com/tudum/articl...

In this double-blind placebo-controlled RCT of ecigs in smokers, those given the 5% nicotine pods had a higher cigarette quit rate (36 v 12%), lower cigarette craving, lower withdrawal ratings, and lower toxicants in their urine 6 weeks later. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
