It’s evidently #portfolioday ! Please enjoy some elements of my portfolio!
A tiger standing on a projective plane in a pond and upon the projective plane is an elliptic curve . There are lotus blossoms with golden fronds and the sky is full of stars with a crescent moon. On yellow paper with black ink and white and iridescent gold accents My illustration reflective plane curves, this one features the reflections of a projective plane and some affine patches in a pond with lotus blossoms as some frogs swim past. The waves of the frog closer in are apparently the dual curve to the curve on the projective plane. On white watercolor paper with black ink and gold accents My illustration to divide is to contain. A space ship approaches a golden lattice in a sky full of curlings clouds and stars. The ship is called the norm, this drawing is about algebraic number theory My illustration of an Alexander horned sphere on brown paper. The horned sphere is in front of a night sky and surrounded by coiling waves. Called tumult. Black ink with white accents

Anyway right after Midjourney started using 😍 as the upvote button a model update started to replace every face with a specific Millennial starlet, a bug the CEO called "the Emma Watson horny" incident. They reverted the release. You gotta be careful what you reinforce is what I'm saying.

Midjourney replaced their pubic output upvote icon with 😍 in ~2023 and you won't believe what happened next

Models do a "reinforcement" phase where good outputs and bad outputs get sorted by humans. For practical reasons, this work focuses on paragraph sized outputs, not essays or books. The "mic drop" structure repetition you're describing is an artifact of how the things are made: zingers score well.

No Inktober/October art challenge for me this year, I'm buried in other projects I can't talk about for now. Skipping this event after something like 12 years in a row feels so weird 😅 Anyway, here's a quick drawing of my other postponed projects!
Three Earthen (Dwarf adjacent characters) meet with Dame Ermine and her squire. They are shrugging.

I accept the need for New Bad Things but I cannot accept that *people* revert right back to where we started. You have to believe that Plot Matters or why do it? The Zahn sequel books did it right. New problems in a post revolution mess, but true to character growth.

I forget exactly what systems are involved but the "who is this" service is independent of core publish functions and the service can stay up even if the user profile bit is not responding

Might be missing something but how does a $350m rev share payout inflate revenue by billions? Would that inflation number not be... $350m?

Agree yes - no product manager in the machine juicing adviews. But that doesn't mean there aren't audience dynamics that came along with the Twitter cloning, some of which might be worth inspecting.

IMHO I don't think this looks like model collapse (which hasn't manifested as predicted; rather the opposite in Deepseek work), but rather RL tuning for stability.

Friendly Skeleton @jonathan.eylerwerve.com · 29/09/2026
Internesting link. Model tuning is aggressively working on business model goals accuracy, legibility and stability, which is generally not the goal of literature. It is a bit of marvel that these things can produce fiction at all, and I'm not surprised that as models improve, they become dull.
