to be honest I’ve sometimes felt self conscious about “taking music too seriously” or like I come across as hella pretentious, but I think better understanding the place in my heart my music comes from has helped me block that out. whatever this light is I just know I’m dedicated to it, wholly.

and I think that’s why when I get an idea for a song or composition, I just need to do it. no matter how uncomfortable it makes me feel to make something or ESPECIALLY for others to listen to it. it often doesn’t feel like my choice to create a particular piece, and I don’t mean that negatively

like when I was 9 years old on my keyboard before school plunking out video game OST pieces I’d tried to learn by ear, that was spiritual practice. when I first started messing with all the sounds I could make in a DAW, that was spiritual practice. when I play now, no matter what I play, it’s there.

VSTs/digital instruments have existed for a while and aren‘t AI! they can vary in realism with more realistic ones being more expensive, but with basically any DAW it’ll come with stock instruments for you to play around with :)

I hate how increasingly the ability to do anything creative is being positioned as a luxury only for the wealthy. there are enough barriers to creating as is and these AI “art“ products seem like they’re hinged on making people, especially those who lack funds, give up on their own creative capacity
