More and more sites are having to set up defenses from AI bots. It is costly to provide online services and they were not built for bots. One can say that the AI companies are performing a global denial of service attack, which incurs costs to all of their competitors, as well as the rest of […]

ATTENTION! EXTENSIONS! Loads of you asked for extensions to be added to Vivaldi for Android. Nobody at all asked for LLMs to be integrated. At Vivaldi, we're not Big Tech. So we've implemented extensions, and added 0% A.I. to the browser. vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-on-mobile-…

Vivaldi 8.2 for mobile: Your browser. Your rules. Your extensions.
Vivaldi hands you every tool you need to browse on your own terms. With our latest update, Vivaldi 8.2, we give you more. Or rather everything, with full extension support on Android, so you can shape your mobile browser exactly the way you want it.

Yes, you read that right. At Vivaldi, we listen to your feedback. And if there was one highly requested feature for Android, that was the ability to add extensions to complement your browsing. So we did just that. Following our desktop release from last week, this update also brings our local Address Bar Calculator to both Android and iOS. One of those details that will make your day-to-day browsing a little easier. ## Extensions on Android – a dream come true In the six years after we first launched our Android browser, our team hasn’t been idle. Release after release we’ve been adding powerful features to help you browse your way: a built-in Ad & Tracker Blocker, desktop-style Tab Bar, custom search engines, customizable Address Bar, built-in Translator, two-level Tab Stacks…the list goes on and on. Our goal is to have everything you need, built in; but we also value user choice. Through the years, many users have expressed their desire to be able to access third-party extensions on their phone, the same way they do on their desktop device. So we got to work. Once you update, you’ll notice a new icon on the Address Bar, the puzzle piece many of you are well acquainted with. Pressing on it will open a menu that will take you to the Chrome Web Store. And just like that, with two taps, you’ll open a world of possibilities. Browse around or type in the name of your favourite desktop extension, and when you’re ready to download, select “Add to Vivaldi”. We’ve conveniently placed the Extensions icon on your Address Bar, but you can remove it by toggling off the “Pin to toolbar” setting. If you change your mind, you can easily bring it back by pressing on the Vivaldi icon and then on the “Extensions” entry. You can also just pin specific extensions to the Address Bar by pressing on the pin icon. Once pinned, you can reorder them by dragging and dropping to your preferred location. The extensions you download will be automatically enabled on all websites you visit, but setting exceptions for specific sites is as easy as toggling off either all or some of your installed extensions for that page. If you have a curated list of extensions you can’t live without on Desktop, you will now be able to sync their data with any Android devices, whether that’s phones or tablets. Note that not all desktop extensions work on mobile, and that the extensions themselves are not syncable, so you’ll need to download them separately on every device. A new chapter for Vivaldi on Android starts today. Now it’s up to each of you to write your story. ## Address Bar Calculator With Vivaldi 8.2, Android and iOS users can also enjoy a feature that just arrived on Vivaldi on Desktop: a built-in local calculator in the Address Bar. Like browsing, doing simple calculations is part of our daily lives. Now, you can perform these directly from the Address Bar, without having to switch apps or open a new tab. Just type the calculations, and you’ll automatically see the results. Press on the “Copy” icon, and the results will get copied into your clipboard. Fewer taps, a smoother browsing experience. As always, we give you choice, so you can disable this feature from Settings > Address Bar > Address Field Options > Calculator. **Vivaldi 8.2 for Mobile is available now** : Thank you for being part of the Vivaldi community. Together, we’re fighting for a better web, one release at a time. * * * ## Changelog Check the whole list of changes from Vivaldi 8.1 to Vivaldi 8.2 here: * Changelog Android * Changelog iOS

Summer is here and new Vivaldi releases on mobile. Focus on polishing this time, but we also had time to add custom icons on Android! #Vivaldi #Browser #Android #iOS #Technology #EU vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-on-mobile-…

Vivaldi 8.1 on Mobile: ready for the summer with Custom App Icons on Android and improvements for the PDF reader
__Read this article in_ Français, język polski._ Our team has been battling the summer heat to polish your favourite browser and get it ready for the holidays. With a comprehensive number of fixes, Vivaldi on mobile is now better than ever. But there’s more! ## Android ### Time to show your true colours Android users had been asking for it, since this customization option was already available on iOS. So we got to work! With a big selection of custom app icons, you can now finally match your Vivaldi icon with your device’s aesthetic. Not a fan of the Vivaldi red? Choose your favourite from the 20 other different icons we offer, ranging from solid pastels to camouflage, from wood-style to rainbow gradient. Try on the different looks from Settings > App Icon. And if you change your mind (or your mood)…you can always change it back! ### The choice, always yours With our previous update we brought you a built-in PDF reader, so you wouldn’t need to switch apps every time you want to check a restaurant menu, or when you need to look through your washing machine instruction manual to find out what that E10 error code means. After listening to your feedback, we’ve now added an option to our Content Settings to let you decide whether you want to use the PDF reader built into Vivaldi, or open the files in another app on your phone. It’s easy: your browser, your choice. ### Restore default search engines In our work towards feature parity between iOS and Android, we’ve also added a new setting for Android that allows you to restore the default search engines by simply clicking a button. Be mindful that going back to the default state will remove any custom search engines you might have added. ## ****iOS**** ### Switch in seconds and level up your browsing With this update we’ve also polished our iOS version where it matters, so you can browse as smoothly as ever. Earlier this year we added easy import from Safari to Vivaldi on iOS. Who said you need to say goodbye to your data to start using this privacy-friendly European browser? With a few clicks, you can bring your bookmarks, passwords, history, and more, right into Vivaldi. It takes a mere moment, and you’ll feel right at home. To import your browsing data from Safari, go to Settings, and scroll your way down until you see the “Safari import” entry. And if you’re attached to your emotional support tabs, Vivaldi on mobile has powerful tools to keep them handy without getting overwhelmed. Group them in Stacks and choose to display them in two levels —with stacks sitting in the top row of the Tab Bar, and tabs inside them in a row below; or go for the Accordion style if you prefer a more compact look with more space for web content. *** **Vivaldi 8.1 on Mobile is available now. Update through the Play Store or App Store** : As always, thank you for being part of the Vivaldi community. Together, we’re fighting for a better web, one release at a time. * * * ### Changelog Vivaldi on mobile 8.0 to 8.1 Get the full list of changes in this release: * Changelog Android * Changelog iOS

@brucelawson , actually I guess it was rather the FIFA wire + some very dubious ref decisions. It was a good game so a shame it would be decided in that way. Norway was the better team, but it is not always the better team that wins.
