Well, I am almost 60. I may kick over a garbage can, but then I'll have to clean it up. I'm joking. I've been to a couple of civil disturbances. 1992 Los Angeles and 2020 Sacramento. I had a much better and quieter time in 2020. I am definitely too old for this shit.

Or earlier if it fits your schedule.

Picking a favorite REM album is like picking a favorite child. The run from Murmur (plus Chronic Town) to Automatic For The People is unprecedented. And Monster and New Adventures have their moments. And Accelerate is a late career highlight. But Lifes..was my first and remains special to me.

Peter Cullen: the Transformers cartoon came out a little late for me. I was in high school. But when the Transformers movies came out in the 2000s, I could see why Optimus Prime made such an impact on a generation of boys. Peter conveyed such nobility and gravitas just with his voice. Legend.

Tim Curry: no matter what the role, he brought his A game and was always entertaining. I think I'm going to watch a Muppet Treasure Island as its been a while. By all acounts he was a great guy to work with and well loved by his fans. Legend, Pennywise, Long John Silver.

I did not want to talk about celebrity deaths yesterday, as it was the 5th anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing and I felt thst needed its own day. But now: Dolly. My mom loved her and I thought she was pretty funny when I was a kid. It was later that I found out about all the charitable works.

A picture of myself in the 70s? 1971 Germany when Dad was stationed over there. Wearing the cowboy hat because 35 years later I would marry a cowgirl.

A couple days late but Happy 40th Birthday to this life changing album. This was my gateway drug to so much music. My favorite band and the best American band ever. It all started here. Within a week of getting this one, I bought the previous 3 albums & EP. REM always sounds fresh & timeless.

A late Father's Day present from my wonderful daughter. My fav album by my 3rd favorite band. I won't forget the songs that made me cry and the songs that saved my life. RIP Andy Rourke, you were the secret weapon of the Smiths sound. In the Year Of Our Lord 2026, the Smiths still matter.

A fine list. Luke is a man of excellent taste.

Haha. You terminate one snake and you are a snake terminator for life.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 30/05/2026

That was a lot of fun. I ended up voting Not Guilty hoping for an upset. If this story made it through and Human Nature didn't, it would match some of the ridiculous Hamster outcomes. Thank you @felixfrazer.bsky.social for the shout out!

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 27/05/2026

I've only watched it once, and I think that was enough. Not good. A waste of a two-parter sadly. If I get a chance to see it between now and then, maybe I'll reappraise it, but that is unlikely. Guilty.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 14/05/2026

Martha is the best part of this story, showing not for the last time, that when there's a hard thankless job, Martha Jones will get it done. She is too good for the Doctor, the selfish prick. Excellent cast, creepy villains, well done. Not Guilty

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

...The Old Rugged Cross, once again adding religion into a story without tired clichés or cheap shots (he did this in The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit as well). Good job RTD1. This needs a rewatch. Not Guilty.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

I've only watched it once or twice, and the Macra didn't mean anything to me because my trek through Classic Who was in the future, but it was a good episode. I love Martha, she is my favorite 10th Dr companion. I liked the funky 2000AD style future story. The atheist RTD makes good use of...

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 15/04/2026

Same. Once in the theater and that's it. Pretty sure we have the Blu-Ray as I can't have an incomplete series, but no desire to watch it again.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 16/03/2026

An end to an era, but it went out strong. Ainley's best performance. Measured & Menacing instead of panto bullshit. Great stuff with Ace. Even my younger, clueless self would have picked up on the subtext if I had watched it 1989 (I was 23). Don't die like animals. Not even snakes. Not Guilty.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 15/03/2026

..had some incredibly beautiful women in it. I know I'm in the minority, but my favorite Catwoman is Lee Meriwether from the Movie. She's just there to be bad. And hold her own against the three other villains.

I watched these shows on endless repeats in the 70s when I was a kid. My favorite show. Watching them in my 50s with my kids. They hold up beautifully. I remember where I was when I heard Adam West had died. Forever my Batman. The best villains. Not really on my radar at the time but that show..

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 25/02/2026

and vampires and it's genuinely creepy. The location sets look great and the guest cast is awesome. Not Guilty.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 25/02/2026

I heard good things about this one and I was not disappointed. I did watch the special edition version first, and I'm glad I did. The Doctor/Ace relationship is the most interesting in Classic Who, and Fenric is a prime example of the Doctor's sinister side in action. And it has Soldiers

favorite Seventh Doctor story. Cream of Scotland Yard is the funniest, darkest line in the show's history. Loved Nimrod and Gwindoline. An extra episode would have been useful, but what we have is stellar. Excellent use of BBC resources to make a great looking story.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 11/02/2026

Not Guilty! Yes, I needed the making of special feature to explain the plot, but the sets, costumes, guests, acting, and overall production make this one of my favorite McCoys. It's probably McCoy's best performance and certainly one of Aldred's best. It's tied with Greatest Show as my 2nd

Remembrance Greatest Show Ghostlight Fenric Delta (gotta show Season 24 some love)

I just need to figure out how to slide Martial Arts into the conversation. Maybe next time. Dave, thank you for your honorable service to your country. I worked with some amazing Soldiers from our partners in Kabul and they are my brothers as much as any American. Cheers!

I talk about that story on Happy Times and Places 73.1 and 73.2 with the wonderful @tobyhadoke.bsky.social. www.podbean.com/ew/pb-qdg4h-... Thank you Rob and Dave for another stellar show and fantastic conversation. Sorry I went on and on but these are 2 of my favorite subjects.

episodes of Doctor Who I ever saw. Loved the concept of the Anglican Soilders. I would not want that in real life, but I liked the way it added a layer on top of the usual military action. Father Octavian could have been written as a zealot, or worse, but Moffat didn't. And I'm grateful for that.

I could have easily picked Battlefield or Fenric. Funny how the anti establishment McCoy era has 25% of their stories heavily featuring the military in interesting and thought provoking ways. 1. Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone. Although it fails the UMR test, I love this one. The 4th and 5th..

2. Remembrance. My favorite Classic story. The proto UNIT. The traitor. The junk yard battle. Yesterday I learned that Mike and the squadies were RAF instead of Army. I had assumed that Counter Measures was a multi service joint operation. I knew Group Captain is an AF rank. Just my Army bias.

3. Web of Fear. Love this one. You have a proper unit (small u). A commander, Staff Sergeant, Corporals, and soilders. And a visiting senior officer getting in the way. A UMR (Unit Manning Report) that makes sense. Doesn't always happen in these shows. I could have easily picked The Invasion.

My picks. I made these before I listened to the episode. 5. Sea Devils. Great use of the RN, on and below the seas. 4. The Dæmons. Gotta have a UNIT story and this is a great one. Poor Sgt. Osgood, getting yelled at by the Brig while trying to get his gear working. I feel your pain, Brother.

nation in time of war. Really interesting picks, and great conversation. Dave, I agree the cast and crew of 60-70s Who had a much better grasp of the military due to their own experience. They could portray it authenticity in ways that the newer crew can't. Buffy couldn't get it right either.

Not Guilty! Probably the weakest of the season but still amazing. I'm glad they did not kill the Brig. A fantastic group of guest characters. A villain with a code of honor. Unlike the dishonorable bastards that canceled the show. Love this era, and the team.

Joe Lewallen @jokerbc67.bsky.social · 08/12/2025

Well done Toby, both the video and the achievement. And you stopped drinking, one day at a time, through the plague years. That is playing the game on ultra difficult mode. Much love from my family to you.
