On ideology
To clarify this point on ideology I’m gonna turn to Raymond Williams. Is this just because I started reading a Raymond Williams collection last week and found it really exciting? Yes, but it’s also handy! In his essay Base and Superstructure in Marxist Cultural Theory, Williams critiques some more crude understandings of ideological and cultural production in capitalism. He argues that the base/superstructure analogy suffers from both an instrumentalist understanding of the superstructure as a mere reflection of the productive base, and that the base itself is a static structure of stable relations of production - say an abstract wage relations - rather than a dynamic process through which relations of production are in constant motion, though constrained within a form of capitalist hegemony. That is to say the base is not just a wage relation, but the real activities of humans within capitalism. Race and immigration for example alters and fragments the wage relation across real human divisions between national working classes and as such the ideological justifications of these divisions is emergent from all those engaged in that concrete human behaviour which constitutes divisions of labour. So, in that sense fascist ideology is not just or perhaps even primarily imposed upon the nation, but emerges through those real human activities. Reactionary elements of the working class can come to the ideological convictions of fascism organically through their own experience. That’s not to say everyone must hold these ideologies because hegemony is never total, contradictions within groups are rife, and different social conditions produce different ideological ones. But it is to say that the ideological tendency towards neo-fascism is not only imposed on us, but developed through us and the real social relations in which we are all enmeshed.

My basic contention in this review is that fascist ideology isn't just imposed on society by reactionary blocs but emerges organically through the fundamental labour relations of society. Policing organises these relations through both repression and tolerance of certain groups

Not been steered wrong by this so far and it seems relevant again as a bunch of biologists push back against Anthropic's announcement of "ground breaking" LLM research
The safe attitude to any groundbreaking announcement from OpenAI and Anthropic is to think "how are these lying fraudsters trying to defraud us?" And then usually within 12 hours the fraud usually revealed

First interview for "Guns to Grunglers," a new series where I talk with non-sex workers in written and spoken form about sex worker rights. Today's guest is @johntheduncan.bsky.social, a YouTuber and PhD in sociology specializing in neoliberalism (and fighting it)! Links below!
The header for John Duncan's interview (at Persephone's Castle): https://persephonescastle.com/2026/09/from-guns-to-grunglers-an-interview-with-john-duncan.html

This interview belongs to"From Guns to Grunglers," a series where I talk with non-sex workers in written and spoken form about sex worker rights (the latter finding friends in a increasingly pimp-like world, grunglers* the ideal choice); i.e., alongside my Q&A series with sex workers, "Hailing Hellions" (2025). Both appear in "What Dreams May Come," the book promotion for my latest volume, Intersectionality† (2026). Today's guest is John Duncan, a YouTuber and PhD in sociology specializing in neoliberalism (and fighting it)!

*Slang for "a cool cis bisexual man/friend to trans folk."

†Go there to see all the interviews (written and spoken) for "Guns and Grunglers." Click here to go to the series abstract (which discusses different theories but especially abjection and the Aegis; see, also: "State Vampirism," 2026). All written interviews feature returning guests from initial spoken interviews—with John kindly returning from his, "Mind the Gap" (2026), to lend his expertise to my work even further.

This interview is for "Hailing Hellions," a Q&A series where I interview sex workers (or ex-sex workers) who have modeled for me and my Sex Positivity* book project. Today's guest is Puppy Tyko! "Are you John Boner?": Our Poster Grungler and First Interview for the Series

NO SPUNK BUT WHAT WE MAKE

As stated, John Duncan is a YouTuber and PhD; this interview is the written accompaniment to a previous spoken interview with John; re: "Mind the Gap." It's the first for the series, so I'm including a little note about that: our "poster grungler"!

(source screencap, top: Sbassbear's "Game Grumps - The Sperminator"; source skeet, bottom: John the Duncan, 7/17/2026)

John is super nice, and I really appreciate him coming on to take part in the first written interview for "Guns and Grunglers." Bitches need friends, and you couldn't ask for a better ally than John Duncan. Go support his work on Patreon, right now!John showing support for Palestine like an absolute chad.

Tony Blair is Risen and he brings gifts of AI powered Authoritarianism
In this script I look at Tony Blair's recent intervention and highlight how it is simply a projection of Poulantzas' Authoritarian Statism. I argue AI obsession is the logical extension of this.

Obviously Tony Blair has a massive financial stake in this having recieved at least £250 million from Larry Ellison and Oracle but I also think Blair has a real ideological fetish for AI as a way to fully exclude people from politics and enact authoritarian technocracy

An excerpt
Moreover, the genocide in Palestine has actually been used to sustain the socially reproductive regimes of Western states. For example, the world’s biggest sovereign wealth fund, the Norwegian Government Pension Fund, which claims to have the most comprehensive ethical guidelines in the world increased its investment in Israeli companies by 32% after October 2023. Similarly, the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, which manages $328.9 billion in Canadian pension funds tripled its investment in Lockheed Martin, quadrupled investment in Caterpillar, and increased its investment in Hyundai 10 fold between 2023 and 2024 (Albanese, 2025). All of these companies have been instrumental in arming and sustaining Israeli’s genocide and the increase in funding occured in tandem with its intensification. Welfare in the global north has always been sustained by colonialism and death, but the financialisation of social reproduction through neoliberalism has created deep financial ties between the means of sustaining life in our states, and the means of enacting genocidal death in Palestine. This also demonstrates one social function of genocidal relations within global capitalism. The reproduction of elevated global north subjects and the subjection of racialised populations to regimes of death.
