Holy shit, Lunacid rules. Got into the mummy temple on level 1 and had to do proper megadungeon style mapping to keep track of things because the dungeon map kept looping and intersecting in interesting ways while I could only see to the end of my torch light.

I am really enjoying running Old school essentials. I’m 10 sessions into a campaign and finally feeling like I understand what makes the system tick. It’s really nice to have concrete procedures for gameplay as well. That framework takes a lot of pressure off the GM and lets you flex creatively.

Highlight of the night: the party finds a bunch of chained iron jars connected to an ornate lock that matches the key they’ve been trying to use on stuff for weeks. The jars are roughly person sized, and there’s a scratching sound coming from inside. And there’s 20 jars tied to one lock.

Started watching sugar on Apple TV after seeing some hints that you could basically view it as a Culture/special curcumstances story and it’s pretty fun from that angle. I have no idea if I would have enjoyed it if I wasn’t already a fan of the culture though.
