This is going to be investigated one way or the other.

The extent to which this can not possibly be accurate is difficult to explain. Especially if California is used as the reference (which is where Ms. Zacharia went to law school and apparently resided both prior to her moving to and following her return from, China). To be clear, what she called

So.…didn’t tell the truth when asked at the Marine One gaggle. And hasn‘t in any public rep that she‘s an “attorney“ or “Outside counsel” - got it. And the consultant part Is….not a thing.

And in other news, the President's social media account posted a video which is absurdly beneath the dignity of his office.

The answer before going onto Marine One did not help. The reference to China makes me wonder if she has yet obtained a security clearance. She’s the press secretary - she’s going to continue to be asked about this. But if the answer is she had a Chinese license to practice? That clears

My guess is that the rush to check whether the new press secretary has any record of admission in California has crashed the bar’s website. My bet is that it’s a short tenure. People are going to ask detailed questions about her tenure as an attorney until there are answers.

Asking the sitting Vice President how he’d define socialism is the biggest waste of time I could possibly imagine. I mean baseline assumption is that the VP is a useless office but I’d try to ask him something even vaguely connected with government policy. Like - do you have any plan to

The coping is already underway. I mean normally sending this sort of message 30 days before an election would be a top story, amazing admission, etc but those rules of political gravity stopped working a decade ago

What is slightly wacky about this is the removal here. The looking at this in the abstract. As if there aren't really obvious policy choices and solutions. (See, tariffs, war in Iran, cutting of FDA in ways impacting food supply and food safety, etc etc etc). Trump as a person is the same

Someone help me out. So the President’s son has his wedding either entirely or partially funded by a Russian oligarch. Like over 100k. So the President says yesterday, well, I hear Don Jr. has paid him back. To which I ask - WHY? Why would Don Jr. need a Russian oligarch to front the cost

Maybe my political instincts are hopelessly stuck in the 80s but it’s hard to see voters giving a damn about the Kennedy Center closing. I truly don’t get why he wants his name on it. I doubt it will be on it after 2028 even if it remains on there before then. I feel for people who work there.

It's sort of amazing that this guy might force one of the biggest realignments in economics and geopolitics since NATO. Canada may end up considering entering a trade alliance with the EU, or some of the EU adjacent nations (UK, Norway, et. al) - something which would have been unthinkable in 2020.

The q&a on the Lincoln “not long enough” would have ended the Clinton, Obama, or Biden re-elects if given in the first term and/or would have been mid-term catastrophic as well.

I take issue with this. Saying ”they” understand us but “we” don’t understand them is true only insofar as we are talking about the leadership in both places. “We” (if measured by polls) don’t want to be involved in Iran at all. Only the C-in-C - who openly campaigned against this sort of folly

It is worth a read - basically - people around the President are eager to get in his orbit and propose projects which they know he’ll like. Can they actually pull them off? Of course not. But blame can be shifted to others. Here - vandals. Iran and us shooting off all of our ammo? Biden or

All of these can be true at the same time: 1) The suspension reversal was corrupt 2) No FIFA rules were violated (Art 27) 3) Art 27 is ridiculous 4) This is not nearly FIFA's most corrupt action 5) FIFA's history of corruption doesn't justify this corruption 6) The red card by VAR was BS

To expound on earlier comments - as my TL proves - I suspected this was going to happen. I didn’t think it was likely after a day had gone by but FIFA will FIFA. If there was any inkling of doing this, it should have been done immediately so as not to prejudice Belgium’s game planning.

I think this is an absurd hot take. If one of the biggest means “one of the top 50 scandals” - fine. We moved a World Cup to the Middle East to be played in the winter in stadiums built by forced labor. Ronaldo got the same treatment for this WC. People saying this haven’t been paying attention.

If you turned over, say, the full hour of CNN/NBC/ABC to an interview of Vance with a prepared reporter - there is no way this MOU survives any Senate vote or public opinion.

How did “torching” work out for Biden/Harris? At best, this is an argument for Trump/Vance to be subject to the same treatment. They said they would solve stuff, not make it worse. Tarriffs plus turf wars = inflation.

I expect far more context here. "Unusual for federal employees" to make such a large donation? No *&!@. 99.9% of federal employees don't make this amount across their career. Give me precedent - when was the last time a Cabinet member donated over million to a House PAC? Maybe a table of data?

Amazing. The common understanding of the tariff power remains the one which the court specially entrusted with these matters upholds. It’s almost like there are rules and you just can’t act like we started the government 15 years ago.

Pakistan request for two (2) week ceasefire along with 2 week opening of the strait seems an awful lot like what I’d imagine the US has been working for over the past few weeks. Try 2 weeks, look around - isn’t this better, etc etc…. So I’d imagine this comes at the urging of the US but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The strait will naturally open line caught me by surprise. One because of the reason I’ve already mentioned- the wishful thinking as with covid. But then there is also his logic that Iran is going to need to sell oil. “It will resume the flowing and the gas prices will rapidly come back down.”
