There is a subtlety to the sin of Pontius Pilate. It's easy to miss, especially when we emphasise the role of the Roman Empire in Jesus' death. The Romans actually don't see Jesus as a direct threat, or even guilty of any crime. Pilate knows Jesus is innocent. But he has him crucified anyway. 1/

Our three Advent wreathes, each one designed and made by the Sunday school children and teachers from each church in the group. We dedicated them today in our united service with the children leading prayers and reading the lessons and Psalm. I am extremely proud of them all. ⚓️

Continuing my read-through of 'The Lamb of the Free' and I find this approach to Jesus' death utterly refreshing. It has implications far beyond systematic theology. Jesus leads the way through death and dies in solidarity with all victims of human sin.
