John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Thats already a thing here. There was an eagle owl (or two, or three, or a squadron) on the loose round town, looking in windows, scaring the bairns, and finally attacking blokes coming out of the local Freemason's Club. Quite ironic I thought... cc @antihippy.bsky.social 1280

John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 01/10/2026For anyone needing a diversion from all the 'other stuff' here's a wee glimpse of the lives of the hill farmers working their sheep up above Loch Ness late yesterday afternoon. Scottish Highlands. 140
John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Yes, really valuable in this digital age to actually get out in a crowd and enjoy the experience. Overheard from the two wee lads with the flags: "Mam why do they all fight on the pitch but then all laugh together in the pub after?" Mam: "Just the way it is son!" Lovely! 141
John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 21/09/2026The Mossfield ground is a really good one though because the crowd gather on the hill where you can fantastic views down onto the action (and good image opportunities) but the crowd action there is a real treat too. 131
John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Thanks Rob, it's really quite special - the family atmosphere is really noticeable, and the other aspect I could have explored at great length was the dog presence! So many (working) dogs there from the Strath, but lots of house dogs as well! 130
John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 21/09/2026But Kingussie got it, 2:1 in extra time. These wee lads nervously watched their dad playing for Kingussie and when they won the pair of them went wild! Great shinty from both teams and cracking entertainment. If you've not been to a shinty match, make a point of going! 4/4 010
John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Best thing about shinty is it's a family affair & particularly so at cup finals. The wee kids were having a great time, running about like daft things and cheering on their respective teams (Kingussie in red/blue, Newtonmore blue/white) or even both sides at once! 3/4 110
John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Great action, Lot of shirt pulling and tripping (normal) but I've never seen so many lads upside down in the air, at times it was like ju jitsu! (and I played shinty for 20 years so I have a good understanding of the game!) Saw a few ex-players I recognised, all a lot older now, just like me! 2/4 251
John MacPherson @johnmacpherson.bsky.social · 21/09/2026My son and I went to the Camanachd Cup Final in Oban on Saturday, Kingussie V Newtonmore. A grand day out, and we managed to escape most of the rain too which was a bonus! I took a tiny compact camera & made the most of its ease of use & unobtrusiveness as we wandered about. 1/4 1123
