I hate bunting but I get why they did it there even if I don’t like it. But man, the one guy on your team who should be able to bunt gets a very buntable pitch and can’t do the job. Of course we still had a fast runner on 1st who could swipe a bag. 3 pitches, 2 pop outs

Feel very confident about today. The Phillies have only scored 4+ runs 3 times since Sept 15th, so I’m expecting 7 today and a nice comfortable win with a very good Sanchez performance. Then we see what happens in game 3.

Pretty sure Luzardo has missed JTs target on the glove side on most pitches in the 1st inning. Some rust to be expected and that was a nice easy inning, but something to watch.

How’d I do? 1. Today will be start 150 for the preseason top 6 starters. They are 2nd in fWAR, 1st in bWAR. 2. Total miss here - none of these guys hit the IL. It probably kept them from being the 2012 Phillies in hindsight.

The Phils have a 1 game lead on the Padres, 4.5 game lead on the DBacks. Those two teams play each other in the final series of the season. Phils should have a playoff spot wrapped up this weekend with a 3-1 or 2-2 series vs the Mets. 4/5 seed would be nice, lining up pitching is more important.

Been a great month for the Phillies: 20-7 and they have a realistic shot at 90+ wins now. I didn’t think they would get there before the season, let alone after the 1st month (or their post ASB swoon). As is always the case - they win when they score 4+ runs in 9 innings consistently. 1/3

What a finish to that Phillies game, sorry I doubted you and went to sleep! Sosa is slashing .235/.275/.388, by far his worst offensive season with the Phils. He has played 20 fewer games / 47 fewer ABs that last season. His 39 RBI is the most he has had in his career (tied w/last year).

Caught a replay of Stark on 97.5 afternoons when I was just in the car. Ricky Bo complaining about BBs out of the bullpen, Stark agreeing with a “back in your day”. I agree there is nothing more maddening that a reliever not throwing strikes, but this isn’t a “back in your day” situation. 1/2

Alec Bohm is having the overall worst season of his career, but he’s starting make up for that horrendous first month. (This is all Phils min 30 PAs - go BDLC!) Now he and Turner are close to identical on the full season. JT is a disaster no one is talking enough about (2 more seasons of this?)

Estimating 88 wins safely gets the Phillies into the playoffs. Current record: 67-58 37 games remaining. 21-16 projected need. SP games, assuming 5 man rotation Sanchez 8 Wheeler 8 Nola 7 Luzardo 7 Painter 7 5-9 in Nola/Painter starts would require 16-7 in Sanchez/Wheeler/Luzardo starts.

I know Schwarber’s dingers are a lot of fun, but I’m super annoyed with him today. His current RISP stats after his 0-2 today: 101 PA 73 ABs 3 SF 21 BB 5 IBB 33 K 17 H 7 HR 29 RBI 22 RBI that were baserunners (not him) He has 10 hits that weren’t HR in 66 ABS and 33 K. Literally Ks in 1/2 his ABs

41 games left. Assuming health and a 5 man rotation the rest of the way: Wheeler 9 starts Sanchez 8 Luzardo 8 Nola 8 Painter 8 24-17 gets them 88 wins. Probably need close to that for the postseason (585 win %) Phils have played .591 since Mattingly took over. Can’t mail in the day game today.

Phillies current xW/L is 58-58. Actual record is 62-54. .500 the rest of the way gets them to 85 wins. They have played .602 ball under Mattingly. That would get them to 89-90 wins. Somewhere between those two should make the playoffs.

Ricky Bo really doesn’t remember his career - just insinuated “we pitched more often than guys do now.” He threw in 69 games once in his career. Kerk threw in 69 games last year. 3 Phillies threw in 65+ in 2025 plus Duran who had 72. Ricky never pitched in a staff with more than 3 guys at 60+
