My car is a zen zone. I don’t use Bluetooth, it doesn’t have CarPlay. I have a USB stick loaded with my ripped FLAC files, so the car stereo has an indexed library of local music. I also use the built-in TomTom fully offline. Local maps. No distractions. I think this was peak driving before CarPlay

My wife’s 2011 MacBook lives again. At first we suspected a faulty ssd controller. Turns out it was the SATA cable yet again. This is the third one it’s had. She has had this laptop since new and loves it. So far, 2 new keyboards and back lights, 3 batteries, new speakers, 1 hdd and 2 SSD. It’s love

Absolute #retrogaming score! This seems to have been pulled from the Microsoft store, so I nabbed a physical copy for £12. Another reason digital and licensing sucks. I went to play the digital version and it’s gone. The license for my physical copy can’t be revoked.

So I ended up removing cloudflare. The purist in me hates over complicating a website or server, and I also don’t like ceding control to a third party. It’s just another point of failure. Surprisingly, our site is faster and less stressed without CF. 264ms for a full dynamic page

I’ve really stepped up my productivity this year. Two of the tools that really help are Fedica & Cold Turkey. I use Fedica to post to my socials, just like this; without logging in. And cold turkey maintains a list of sites I’d normally waste time on, and blocks them when working

Someone recommended Need For Speed (2014) to me a while back, so I grabbed a copy. I enjoyed the game, but the movie passed me by. I’m an hour in and it’s surprisingly good! Very good in fact.

Continuing down the 80s and 90s rabbit holes of movies my wife didn’t see while living abroad as a kid, this week we also watched Falling Down (1993). A movie I haven’t watched in over 20 years and one that always leaves me feeling conflicted. Such a great flick, with that bitter sweet ending.

The Matrix massively changed my life when I first saw it at the cinema in 1999. I was a young teenager and massively into computers and metal/gothic music living in a post industrial town. This few minutes of footage alone showed me a world beyond mine which I would later become a part of.

In January I picked up the 2025 blu ray release of Red Dwarf. I had season 1-8 as a kid on BBC VHS and would watch them every night. I only owned season 5 on legitimate vhs, the rest I tape to taped off a friend at school. It's so crazy to watch them all again. Love it.

Yesterday was my birthday. It was fun to go to the Everyman at Royal William Yard to watch the F1 movie with a fruit cooler & a pizza. We had a few non-alcoholic drinks by the marina, walked around in the sun & ended with some Italian food. My kind of day. F1 movie was great fun.

Today is my birthday. It’s also the birthday of #amiga - we are only separated by two years. I used to play the 500 and later 1200 at a friends house because we didn’t have the money. I later saved to buy my very own magic pack. I was beyond happy.

Finally sat down to watch PVT Chat (2020) last night. Julia fox was great in it. The film felt very indie, with shaky camera work & a real grit to the acting & storytelling. A great observational take on online SW, addiction & online relationships. Definitely draws on experience.

The John Wick movies are some of my all-time faves. I recently watched the documentary & really enjoyed the history & behind the scenes of this world. Gun-Fu quickly became a firm favourite, especially combined with that score. Movie night tonight to watch the Ballerina spinoff.

It’s summer, so it’s time for cold beers outside. But it’s also 2025 and I don’t tend to drink much alcohol anymore. These Corona Cero are the best of both worlds. An ice cold beer on the beach, but can happily drive home afterwards and not feel terrible. This is progress! Bought a few crates.

Some evenings just call for 4+ minute guitar solo. Pink Floyd never disappoints. Also, can I just confess my love for my #sonos system. The majority of my system are Play 3s I’ve bought used. Stereo pairs all over the house. Happily running rock solid S1 and local Library. Grateful for this system.

I’ve been playing #carmageddon since I was a kid. I bought the PC version before I owned a PC and my best friend used to let me play it on their family PC for hours on end. Always looked amazing on the 3DFX. Last week is the first time ever I’ve completed a map by killing all peds. Never gets old.
