“The parts of our brain that help us decide what is valuable overlap with the parts that keep track of what feels like us.” Interesting article here on identity and letting go, which my brain is framing as an aspect of *indiferencia ignaciana*.

Opinion | Neuroscience Can Make Decluttering Easier (Gift Article)
Decluttering is a challenge for many Americans, but neuroscience indicates we can make the process easier on ourselves and our loved ones.

Mother of God and of the poor, help of the defenseless, intercede for those of us who are unaware of our own poverty, so that we may see and respond to those who live their poverty daily, and thus find a remedy for our own blindness and illusions of self-sufficiency.

Everybody read Toni Morrison. If novels are not your thing, at the very least go get Source of Self-Regard, which is amazing.

Their questions are oriented around pastoral care of youth, facilitating their reception of Gods unconditional love, coupled with an accent on truth (which they admire in Dominicans).

If you could give one Lonergan essay to someone drawn to but mostly innocent of Thomism, unresolved in their questioning of modernity, and well formed in Ignatian spirituality, what would it be?

Seems like a great entry way and intelligent catechesis toward priming your student's personal inquiry and development of "consciousness of Christ's consciousness," i.e. "the what" of Christian tradition, as you put it in *Nothing Gained*.

Just had a flashback. I had a prof in college who did this. Prof Groner. It was effective, like a lecture map, I’d take notes all over it. The class was Zen Buddhism. You’re way funnier than Paul Groner. I’ve never seen a joke within an outline, that could be genre breaking if you can pull it off!

In Doran/Voegelin/Lonergan terms: Mary Oliver’s poems as contributing to a cultural rebalancing of the anthropological with the cosmological in aid of an emergent and personal soteriological. Her poems as art cultivating the higher viewpoint on meaning and culture named Cosmopolis.

I enjoyed this! Mary Oliver’s poems as spiritual exercises, as namings of what is most real, most valuable, as ways of surviving and coping with trauma, as devotions for loving attention to the natural world. youtu.be/hCyw9F4t7QQ?...
