Had a productive weekend taking some different metal working classes at a local maker space this weekend.

Huh ok so this is a damning piece of evidence right here. Because the president absolutely can make orders pertaining to the GPS service... Clinton turned off the Selective Availability that introduced errors to civilian application that military hardware corrected for prior to 2000.

There's also a possibility that your speedometer is wrong? They're much less accurate than GPS. But Google or someone could be adding uncertainty on top of GPS location interpolations or may have some thing where they need to overreport your speed for like, crazy legal reasons?

But so the GPS constellation isn't giving position data. It gives timing data for the time, and GPS applications look that up in an ephemeris almanac and figure it out locally.

like how much is it off by? and is it consistently off? if there's a positioning error, the velocity in the positioning data would be kind of chaotic, and I would expect it to be a vaguely normal distribution along the true speed. If the data is biased, the velocity would need to be consistent.
