Our new study, led by the amazing @alex john asks how thalamic nuclei mature differently across childhood and adolescence, and how structural and functional development are linked. doi.org/10.64898/202...

Nucleus-level thalamic organization anchors multimodal signatures of thalamocortical maturation
The human thalamus is composed of multiple nuclei that differ in structure and function. From early development onwards, these nuclei form reciprocal, nucleus-specific connections with the cerebral co...

Cortical maturation unfolds hierarchically, endowing the PFC with extended plasticity. But do timeframes of plasticity vary across PFC layers? With 7T quantitative myelin imaging, EEG, and cognitive data, we uncover heterochronous laminar maturation in the PFC 1/n. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Multimodal thalamus by Alex John and team! We found two axes organizing nuclei and linked this to microstructure and core-matrix models. Thanks to reviewers and coauthors for help and support and ideas for the Thalnado project www.nature.com/articles/s42...

As of today, the main finding of my PhD is published in the European Journal for Neuroscience! 🥳🥳 Together with Gesine Müller, we looked at hemispheric asymmetries in the mouse auditory cortex. We find layer, sex, and hemispheric differences: doi.org/10.1111/ejn.... 🧵

Hemispheric Asymmetry of Intracortical Myelin Orientation in the Mouse Auditory Cortex
We find that the right and left auditory cortex in mice are both organised in cortical columns, with asymmetric myelination in the different layers and differences between the sexes. In addition, the...
