I set out to make a perfectly nice miniature tree, but realised I gave crafted something from a nightmare. 🎃 At least its almost Halloween 🎃 #nerdlings #miniature #modelling #scenery

Do you think they read 1984... probably not, it has a lot of words and complex ideas...
April 4th, 1984. Last night to the flicks. All war films. One very good one of a ship full of refugees being bombed somewhere in the Mediterranean. Audience much amused by shots of a great huge fat man trying to swim away with a helicopter after him, first you saw him wallowing along in the water like a porpoise, then you saw him through the helicopters gunsights, then he was full of holes and the sea round him turned pink and he sank as suddenly as though the holes had let in the water, audience shouting with laughter when he sank.

Sunday was a good morning for a walk. We explored some new paths. Phone was obviously struggling with the contrast and bright sky. Toddler, dog, & dad had a very nice walk. (Lost Superman and had to go back later to find him) #photography #phonephotography #cannockchase #forest

Even wikipedia have banned it as a source... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...
In the 2017 RfC, the Daily Mail was the first source to be deprecated on Wikipedia, and the decision was challenged and reaffirmed in the 2019 RfC. There is consensus that the Daily Mail (including its online version, MailOnline) is generally unreliable, and its use as a reference is generally prohibited, especially when other sources exist that are more reliable. As a result, the Daily Mail should not be used for determining notability, nor should it be used as a source in articles. The Daily Mail has a "reputation for poor fact checking, sensationalism, and flat-out fabrication". The Daily Mail may be used in rare cases in an about-self fashion. Some editors regard the Daily Mail as reliable historically, so old articles may be used in a historical context.

I made a field / animal pen. Fencing was based on the scenery instructions in the back of the Pillage rule book. Learnt a LOT, but overall, I'm pretty happy with it. Might add turfs of veg, but might do that as the next project. #pillage #scenery #modelling #miniature #nerdlings

Twice now, I have had my scenery warped by PVA glue (watered down in both cases). Once on cardboard, and once with MDF. Question: What glue do people use to avoid this? #nerdlings #modelling #pillage #crafting #crafts #glues #question

I made a hill! I almost threw it away at least twice because it was looking very bad. But glad I persisted, quite happy with the result. I used the "hard shell" technique, plastic pots covered in bandage and plaster. With plaster rocks added. Learnt a lot along the way. #nerdlings #scenery

This was taken a few days ago. I am developing quite an appreciation for clouds. #photography #phonephotography #sky #clouds
A photo looking down a gentle valley. The grass is recovering from the drought. The sun is shining with harse shadows from the hedge on the right. The sky is a brilliant blue, intersperesed with perfect white clouds

But then I noticed the spot of white in the centre, where all I could see outside of the camera was a pool of darkness. So, I zoomed the photo in, and then quickly turned round and left.

I took this picture standing in a dark cutting, heading down to the railway and the canal. The path is 100's of years old. I hoped to capture the dark, forboading view, as it was very dim I used night mode. I was disappointed in the photo, too light. #paranormal #ghost

I've been trying to find a way to add thatching. Plumbers Hemp is definatally the way to go, but messy but it's the right colour. Just laid in strands, flatted a bit, and brushed with diluted pva. Took a long while to dry. Then trimmed. #nerdlings #pillage #thatch #miniature #modelling

Are they wrong? The British Journal of Sports Medicine says otherwise. Strength, power and aerobic capacity of transgender athletes: a cross-sectional study (Oct 2024) bjsm.bmj.com/content/58/1...
Conclusion While longitudinal transitioning studies of transgender athletes are urgently needed, these results should caution against precautionary bans and sport eligibility exclusions that are not based on sport-specific (or sport-relevant) research.

Done the two corner sections, really pleased with how these are coming out. I didn't record what colour the ground was on the original, but these are Doombull Brown. (Work back through the quotes for the colours & technique) #nerdlings #pillage #scenery #miniature

Came here to make this same point, we really really needs trees for shade, soil integrity, soil health, wildlife, & our own mental health. But not for oxygen.
Does the Amazon Rainforest Really Produce 20% of Our Oxygen?

No. The Amazon rainforest doesn’t produce 20 percent of the world’s oxygen. This myth has persisted for years, but scientists have thoroughly debunked it. Yadvinder Malhi, a professor of ecosystem science at Oxford University, explains that the amazon’s net contribution to atmospheric oxygen is essentially zero.

Stoneford Bridge (103) on the Staffs & Worc canal. The canal opened in 1772, and I found a map from 1813, which included a bridge here. I have no idea how old this particular bridge is, though, at least 45 years. 😆 #photography #phonephotography #ukcanals #history

It looks a lot better now the second coat of wall paint is on. Its custom colour, white / grey / yellow turned out green 🤔 so I added orange. Then, I added play sand for texture. Horrible stuff to paint with, but it looks ok. #nerdlings #pillage #modelling

I don't have any stickers on my laptop these days, but I did once cover the entire outside edge of a large work monitor with stickers from Granny Smith apples - it took years! Then my collegues tried to cover them up with "I love ducks" stickers, but they didn't have enough.

the mighty ships tore across the empty wastes of space and finally dived screaming on to the first planet they came across - which happened to be the Earth - where due to a terrible miscalculation of scale the entire battle fleet was accidentally swallowed by a small dog.

Pretty much sums up the state of housing development... if it's so bad, why did it ever get built? Why wasn't a bus route added? Why are there no "essential" facilities? Were the people who approved it incompetent or simply corrupt?
"We highlighted the complete unsuitability of the area. The absence of essential facilities and amenities and the lack of any public transport makes the location wholly unsuitable," chairman Phil Butters said.Pritchard also raised concerns about local infrastructure, saying the nearest bus stop was a 30-minute walk away from the site.
