Stop comparing LLMs to junior developers. It's a marketing ploy meant to humanise the LLM and dehumanise developers. No developer, junior or otherwise, would have acted that way...

They believe LLMs are superhuman tools that generate correct and performant code that require no supervision or review so they decide to use those "superhuman" tools to generate... Python and JavaScript!

Fine #rstats built-ins NAs are great but I genuinely don't think they make any sense for booleans: it's in the name ffs, it's a boolean, it can be one of 2 values. And this doesn't make sense either. as.logical("1") $> NA as.logical("true") $> TRUE I've got TRUE, FALSE, and MAYBE???

I actually forget how environments factor in but in the S origins (w/o lexical scope), functions were isomorphic to lists. The first n-1 elements was a named list corresponding to argument names and defaults, and the last element was the body expression. So ls[2] would be like function(pos=-1) NULL.

Oh boy do I love S7! Treat new_class() as struct, props now have their types, and everything is a method 💯🎉🔥 I use it to write #rstats code like I write Go code; it's verbose, nothing like idiomatic R, it'll make your hair curl but I love it!

Just released mori 0.1.0 on CRAN — a new R package for shared memory across processes. Parallel R no longer has to mean duplicating your dataset in every worker's RAM. opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-04... 🧵 1/3

mori: Shared memory for R objects
mori is a new R package for sharing R objects across processes via OS-level shared memory. Parallel workers get zero-copy, lazy ALTREP access to the same physical pages — share once, read anywhere.

folks, please don't submit LLM-generated PRs to open source projects. It makes no sense. If the maintainers want to use an LLM to fix an issue, they can use Claude or whatnot directly. They don't need you as intermediary, that's just silly. If they don't want to use LLMs, they have reasons.

{hypertext} is a DSL for building HTML in R. it's similar to {htmltools}, but with 2 deliberate differences: - it is *framework-agnostic* - it has *zero dependencies* we now have more web frameworks in R than ever before. {hypertext} works with all of them, and independently of them. #rstats
library(hypertext)

page <- tags$html(
  tags$head(
    tags$title("hypertext")
  ),
  tags$body(
    tags$h1("Hello"),
    tags$p(
      class = c("lead", "mb-2"),
      "Server-side HTML."
    ),
    tags$input(
      type = "text",
      placeholder = "enter your nickname"
    ),
    tags$button(
      "Click"
    )
  )
)

This is pretty neat actually; using builder (builder.opifex.org) to translate #rstats {dplyr} code to {data.table} code **at build time** so you get zero overhead. ⚠️ it's an llm-generated POC plugin github.com/devOpifex/fa...
