As ever I would point out that this is good landscape management and there is nothing 'wild' about it and until we stop calling it 'rewilding' people will continue to operate with the ludicrous romantic assumption that 'nature' is self-healing and that human intervention is bad.

Came across this stunning photograph of Lund's 1938 public baths in goodwill bargain book from 1950. Quite the milestone in the local spatial politics of public luxury that was rolled out as social democratic welfare planing in the postwar era. The architects were Hans Westman with Tor Andersson.

A right-wing slogan in the Swedish election is that the left wants to "force mix" the forms of tenure (=introduce migrant renters to suburbia). This 1976 interview with future conservative housing minister calling for MORE mixing of tenure within housing areas, shows how hard they have moved right.

Mamdani nails it again. As @triofrancos.bsky.social & I argued in NYT, green economic populism means tackling the climate crisis & working people's cost of living at the same time. We need better transit, better EV infrastructure, better rideshare options. Many needs ➡️ many policies.
Article excerpt: Cities and states can also learn from Minnesota’s new transportation policies. Minnesota’s largest public transit operator aims to expand service by 35 percent by the end of 2027, and it just lowered fares. Local government officials could follow California, which recently approved a plan to fund nearly 17,000 new chargers for electric vehicles — a policy that is helpful to renters who can’t charge at home and alleviates range anxiety. Community-owned electric vehicle ride-share programs (like Uber but nonprofit) are also popping up in California’s agricultural Central Valley, serving primarily Latino working-class residents.

Reminder to avoid the Thiel distraction. A point we’ve been hitting on tour is the temptation to apply intellectual history methods to a regime of accumulation (digital capitalism) is misguided. You won’t understand the Tech Right by reading books (they don’t read). Look at how they run their firms.
