I try and quash it where I can and rely on just my subscription feed where I can. Addons like Control Panel for YouTube are great and hiding algorithmic stuff, even just the fact I was able to remove shorts was great. That was a big issue for me when I found myself doomscrolling shorts out of habit

I think people are trained to click on this. Clicker trained people? Waow. In a world of instant gratification and dopamine hits from barely any effort. Gimme IRC chat rooms about content, web rings and good ol' blogs any day. Though maybe I'm just nostalgic.

It's genuinely why I loved the internet pre iTunes and such. A lot of music discovery was done through blogs back then. Curation happened through someone and websites like Hype Machine would aggregate that instead. Now people have to try and appease and work with the algorithm instead..

It's like half the blame is on the video producer but the other half is the toxic nature that is the algorithm. I despise the algorithm and what it's done to the internet feeding on every point of data. I genuinely miss the wild west that was discovery and hunting.
