#SixOnSaturday #Bloomscrolling #Dahlias 🌱 It’s beginning to feel like early autumn with fresh mornings and falling leaves. The afternoons are still hot and still no rain to speak of, so stil not ideal, it’s impossible to get a trowel into the soil.

#SixOnSaturday #Bloomscrolling Another relentlessly hot and sunny week means much of the garden is crispy, some of the losses, like a small acer, will be permanent. The pasture behind the garden is bleached white and I have never seen the river so low.

#SixOnSaturday #Bloomscrolling 🌱The garden is looking exhausted, only the area around the house fed with saved grey water is doing well. The raspberries are coming of the canes dehydrated, if this is the new normal radical rethinking is needed

by Yutaka Murakami (Japanese, b. 1957)
A vertical painting by contemporary Japanese artist Yutaka Murakami (b. 1957) features a charming, whimsical illustration of a cat wearing a garment. The composition highlights the artist's signature playful style, combining an expressive animal portrait with bold, traditional textile design motifs.

The central figure is a fluffy black-and-white tuxedo cat standing upright against a warm, unadorned cream-colored paper background. The cat has wide, round yellow eyes with dark pupils, a small white muzzle, a white chest, and white "mittens" on its front paws. Its thick black fur is rendered with soft, textured brushstrokes along its rounded lower body and its curved tail, which extends to the right.

The cat is dressed in a short, cream-colored robe or yukata, fastened at the side with a simple tied cord. The fabric design features an eye-catching, avant-garde pattern composed of large, sketchy crimson-red circles representing camellia blossoms (tsubaki), interspersed with oblong, deep blue leaves highlighted by white sketchy veins.

#FlowersOnFriday #Bloomscrolling 🌱The shade of early morning allows the pollinators to work, it is even too hot for bees. I know gardeners always complain about the weather, but it really is apocalypticly hot
The path into the garden shaded in the early morning light, it’s the only reasonable time to be outside. Hydrangeas, alchemilla, and stachys flop lazily, because what else can you do in this heat?

I may sound mean but I am genuinely excited by the prospect of the World Cup being an unmitigated disaster because it will highlight both the corruption of FIFA and the state of the US’s organisational skills

It’s fascinating how we are talked into confusion. Take climate change for example. Climate already changed. We are now trying to survive by using infrastructure that was built for a climate that no longer exists. But there’re still debates on whether climate change is real. Fascinating.

Brilliant from Olga Tokarczuk, feeling sorry for people who only speak English as they have no private realm to retreat to, where they can speak among themselves without being overheard. “I heard there were plans in the works to get them some little language of their own, one of those dead ones.”
