Good (but shocking) to see this research out today that we have supported, linking the housing affordability and the health inequalities crises.

Benefits are a lifeline for people living with disabilities & ill health in the UK. 🔴 Any plans to cut them would make the UK's already stark health inequalities even worse. Here’s what some of our members and supporters have said about the proposed plans to change health & disability benefits. 🧵

Workers can’t get well soon without #SafeSickPay. Today our coalition gave the ‘Get workers well soon’ card & petition signed by thousands to Number 10 Downing Street & DWP HQ. To strengthen Statutory Sick Pay the Government must raise the rate & stop plans to reduce sick pay for 300,000 workers.

"How long you live shouldn’t depend on where you live, yet this is still a harsh reality for many." 🗣️ Great to hear them include what one of our Parliamentary Champions, @kimjohnsonmp.bsky.social, had to say about the shocking data from her constituency. ⤵️
“How long you live shouldn’t depend on where you live, yet this is still a harsh reality for many. I’m deeply concerned, though sadly not surprised, to learn that life expectancy in Liverpool Riverside is among the lowest in the UK. Systemic inequalities such as income disparities, poor housing conditions, and air pollution are key contributors to this injustice. It doesn’t have to be this way - poverty is a political choice - which is why I am committed to narrowing these gaps and championing the campaign for health equality in Parliament”.
