Saw a productivity hack for work-from-home that said “wear sneakers, not slippers.” I pfft-ed at first because I almost always wear slippers and… ugh! I hate that they’re right. And I should’ve known because I advise people to wear pants. Yeah, wear sneakers.

Can we stop making boys go through a literal song and dance to ask a girl to the prom or homecoming? It takes a lot of courage to even ask in a normal way. Everyone’s always gushing in the comments and all I can think about are the boys and girls who don’t go with dates because of this pressure.

I get it, losing stinks. If most people you hang out with voted the same, but that candidate lost, it could be tough to wrap your head around. It’s more comfortable to feel cheated than out of touch. But the more you know about how things work, the less likely you are to buy into wild theories.

It’s also worth noting Jack Ciaterelli conceded the race 8 minutes after the media called it for Sherrill. He already knew the mail-in totals and knew how many votes he’d need to make up in the machine count, and those votes weren’t there.

So it was impossible that 400,000 mail-in votes had been given to Sherrill after she had fallen behind in the count. All of the mail-in votes Sherrill had received that day were counted before there were any same-day machine votes to count.

Mail-in ballots are opened in public with representatives of all parties in attendance. A bipartisan group reviews the ballots for errors or irregularities that could disqualify the votes. By Election Day 2025, all but 120,000-ish mail-in ballots that were sent out had been counted.

Second, in NJ, they start to count mail-in ballots 5 days before Election Day. We almost always had mail-in ballot vote totals hours before the polls closed (with the understanding that more votes could be added later as long as ballots were postmarked by Election Day).

The claim some NJ Republicans are making is that 400,000 mystery mail-in votes were suddenly added to Mikie Sherrill’s total once Jack Citiarelli took the lead on Election Night. First, once polls close, no one is “in the lead.” There’s a winner—they just have to count the votes to see who it is.

I just watched a woman in pajamas drop her kid off at daycare. Full on pajamas. Not pajama pants and a shirt, but a matching set of nice button down pajamas. Some would have rolled their eyes over the state of society today. But I say,”yes, queen.” She looked like a million bucks.

Voter of the day is NHL and Olympic hockey star Quinn Hughes. He voted just once—in the 2020 presidential election. Apparently he registered to vote the day after Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final that was played in an empty building. Voting is private, not anonymous.

They can talk about climate change as it relates to affordability. Insurance costs are skyrocketing due to increasing severity of storms. Fossil fuels are unreliable in terms of cost no matter how much we drill. When oil goes up, China makes a killing on solar panels. We could use those jobs here.
