The hot weather’s played havoc, but we finally have homegrown tomatoes. Interestingly, the high heat and too much sun have stopped the Cherokee Purple going purple. The lil guys are Nagina 1.

Five just picked homegrown tomatoes on a white quartz kitchen counter. The three large ones at the back are dark red and green and gnarly-looking Cherokee Purple, two smaller bright red plum tomatoes at the front are Nagina 1s.

Unwind with ITV1 at 5.50am today is just some fog on a mountain, literally just a load of impenetrable grey fuzz and it’s hugely frustrating you can’t see anything. And we just watched a horror movie based on Steven King’s The Mist the other day, so yeah, super-relaxing. ARRRRGGGH.

It seems the local foxes are not fans of dahlias. Or Japanese anemones, agapanthus, oenothera or peonies.

A five foot tall dahlia merckii which had masses of beautiful lilac pink flowers severed at its roots and trashed by foxes, alongside a ripped up oenothera, a bit of peony, Japanese anemone and some agapanthus leaves on a mossy lawn.

I’m up so early (for no reason), ITV1’s current programme is a load of AI-animated moving multicoloured pipes, set to pound shop Balearic comedown music. At 5.30am on a Wednesday morning.
