Their pram though? Festooned with serpents? I have questions.

As did their library. Wouldn’t mind a room like this.

Chatsworth’s House of Stories has rare books on display. I’m a sucker for a spredge so these marbled edge 1850s editions of Shakespeare & Milton caught my eye.

Should be fast asleep for work tomorrow but I’m buzzing with excitement from Wells Literature Festival. Stunning readings and a drive home past Diwali fireworks… so grateful to @fleurhitchcock.bsky.social for 2nd place & thrilled to meet Fleur, @drkshingler.bsky.social and other wonderful writers 🎉

Ellie is 3 today 🥳 she’s celebrated with long walks and by inhaling peanut butter and carrot ‘pupcakes’.

We took a walk yesterday that led us past Tolkien’s old house, “Rock Cottage”, and my eagle-eyed 9-year-old spotted something... 👀

It’s pay day and I’ve booked it off work to get Christmas presents 🎁 Santa’s little helper here is supervising the online purchases. Or watching for what I’m getting her, maybe? 🤔

The Runaways by Ruth Thomas. I loved this book so much! And anything by Nina Bawden.

In 1916, Tolkien moved to Great Haywood with his wife Edith, to train for WW1 at Brocton camp. Between the two locations, by foot, is this wonderful, human-like oak tree planted 500 years ago, during the reign of King Henry VIII.

What’s up? Indeed. And what is down? Who knows at the Quirky Quarter in Liverpool 🤷‍♀️ (We highly recommend it)
