As reported
by CTV News, Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette revealed that a U.S. representative approached provincial officials offering to reduce heavy tariffs, but she "shut the door immediately." Instead of taking the bait, Quebec stood united with the rest of Canada to maintain a common front.

US banks are allowed to operate in Canada and some do. They don’t offer full services here because they would have to follow Canadian bank laws for consumer protections and keep sufficient lending reserves. Canada has not had a bank go under in 30 years while over 600 US banks entered receivership.
