somewhat different, but while i was designing a Sonic OC for myself i tried on a whim to make a Sonicified version of Joan named "Skin the Cat" (pictured left), which inspired the astonishingly talented @morkitten.bsky.social to draw her own, much cooler version (pictured right)

Joan took on leatherworking within a few months of her resurrection out of a grim fascination with dead flesh. In Ul'Dah, she was spurred to study alchemy and goldsmithing from a counter curiosity about aether, life, and the art of animating the inanimate

it took me ~2 years (including breaks) to play MSQ from ARR through to Endwalker so that's the rough time frame i'm going with for Joan's in-universe adventures so far. havent started Dawntrail yet but perhaps there will be a bit of a timeskip before then who knows

#wolqotd (kinda) The Encyclopaedia Eorzea books provide ages for NPCs: how do you "treat" this piece of info within your own wol's lore/timeline? Are they canon? If so at which point in time? Or do you adjust them to your personal timeline? Or perhaps it's all the "1 year time bubble"?

generally not a terribly petty person. but she was not above playing a funny prank on Hydaelyn across time and space. Short version being she neglected to tell Venat she was going to have to deal with reviving a corpse.

What will vengeance steal from U?

Loohn Gah (Final Fantasy XIV) looks upward. She carries a bow and a single arrow in her hands and cradles the latter between her fingers, not yet taking aim.

Joan has a chronic case of wanderlust. She wants to see and experience as much of the world as she can

idk specific Named Aesthetics but i go for a kind of gothic /macabre beauty combined with mundanity. my initial concept when developing Joan in ARR was to try and make the scariest-looking healer i could make within the at-the-time glam constraints

Joan is fairly taciturn around people she doesn't know too well but gets more verbal in proportion to time spent with ppl. One thing one will notice about Joan after spending enough time with her is that she is constantly telling jokes. Wordplay and witticisms. She's much sillier than she appears.

030

Joan Boby @joanboby.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

for the majority of her adventure Joan was unknowingly carrying a concentrated cluster of dynamis in her body that could have exploded and transformed her and anyone in her vicinity into monsters if she ever gave in to despair. Theres a version of the story where she is just an actual swamp creature

Post-EW might be the first time Joan has actually been in a position to date. Circumstances and her emotional state have kinda kept anything real from developing, but her post-EW wanderings have likely included meeting up with various people she felt connections with throughout the story

Several people who knew Kehdra when she was alive exist around Eorzea, mostly near the Black Shroud. Joan has met at least one of them. She sees Joan as the "thing" that stole her friend's face. When she told Joan as much, the only thing Joan could bring herself to do was apologize.

Joan's taste buds are pretty atrophied so she likes sharper and more intense flavors and sensations. peppers, ginger, garlic, etc. So yeah she likes spicy food. She hasn't met Zero yet but i guess we will see.

Joan Boby @joanboby.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Joan does not flirt. For obvious reasons she does not feel confident in approaching people and is surprised by anyone showing interest in her. If it's someone she knows she may accept their advances but is immediately suspicious of people approaching her out of the blue.
